Winston Taylor is seeking an experienced lawyer to act as the Firm's attorney and advisor on all legal matters affecting the Firm and its operations. You will develop policies to ensure compliance and support the Office of the General Counsel in daily responsibilities.

The role requires a JD with bar admission and 5+ years in a law firm, with preference for litigation and ethics experience. Chicago office is preferred, with 3–4 days in the office.

Qualificações

• Juris Doctor degree and admission to State Bar required.
• 5+ years experience working in law firm environment.
• Experience with professional responsibility matters, attorney ethics, loss prevention and risk management preferred.
• Litigation background preferred.

Responsabilidades

• Handle all aspects of defense of Firm's and personnel's interests in the event of claims arising from the work of Firm personnel; assess, investigate, report to ALAS, and retain outside defense counsel as needed.
• Procurement of Firm's professional liability and cyber insurance; assist personnel with insurance issues.
• Serve as Firm's primary contact with ALAS.
• Act as Loss Prevention Partner and advise personnel on loss prevention, attorney ethics and conflicts matters.
• Support attorneys and senior management in management of clients and matters and Firm-related business issues.
• Work with Finance to manage and collect accounts receivable; supervise collection process.

Position summary

Act as the Firm's lawyer and as an advisor and resource to management and other Firm personnel in all legal matters involving the Firm and its operations. Develop practices, guidelines and policies to ensure federal, state and international compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Support the Office of the General Counsel and Conflicts/Intake team in its day-to-day responsibilities.

Position Responsibilities

• Handle all aspects of defense of Firm's and personnel's interests in the event of claims made arising from the work of Firm personnel. Assess and investigate claims and circumstances, report to Attorneys' Liability Assurance Society ("ALAS") where appropriate and identify and retain outside defense counsel where needed.
• Handle procurement of Firm's professional liability and cyber insurance and assist Firm personnel with insurance-related issues.
• Serve as Firm's primary point of contact with ALAS.
• Act as Firm's Loss Prevention Partner and advise personnel on loss prevention, attorney ethics and conflicts matters.
• Support all attorneys and senior management in management of clients and matters and Firm-related business issues.
• Work with Firm's Finance group and assist with management and collection of accounts receivable where needed. Manage collection process.

Experience, skills, and qualifications

• Juris Doctor degree and admission to relevant State Bar required.
• 5+ years experience working in law firm environment required.
• Experience with professional responsibility matters, attorney ethics, loss prevention and risk management preferred.
• Litigation background preferred.
• Must live within a commutable distance to a local office with the ability to come into the office 3-4 days per week. Chicago office preferred.
• Ability to foster an \"open door\" dynamic for the Office of General Counsel by enhancing the profile of the Office and encouraging Firm personnel to communicate regularly with Office of General Counsel.

Salary

The target annual salary range for this role is currently $320,000-$375,000 based on a regular, full-time schedule. The amount of compensation offered will be determined by several factors, including but not limited to experience, qualifications, market data and internal equity. Total compensation includes a comprehensive healthcare benefits package, yearly retirement contribution, and may include an annual discretionary merit bonus.
