Job summary

Medical University of South Carolina’s MUSC Health Emergency and Urgent Care in Summerville is seeking a Radiologic Technologist to perform high-quality X-ray and CT imaging, while delivering excellent patient care. You will explain procedures, verify patient data, and coordinate with the healthcare team to ensure accurate diagnoses in a fast-paced environment.

Minimum 2 years of diagnostic imaging experience required; ARRT/SCRQSA registration and BLS certification are necessary.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited school of radiologic technology.
• ARRT and SCRQSA registration required (Radiography and CT).
• Current BLS certification.
• Minimum 2 years of diagnostic imaging experience; CT experience preferred, including emergency, pediatric, and orthopedic exams.

Responsibilities

• Perform high-quality diagnostic imaging procedures in X-ray and CT.

Responsibilities

• Perform high‑quality diagnostic imaging procedures in both X‑ray and CT modalities.
• Provide exceptional patient care while ensuring patient comfort and safety throughout imaging procedures.
• Explain imaging procedures clearly to patients and answer questions to promote understanding and cooperation.
• Verify patient information and ensure appropriate preparation prior to examinations.
• Operate X‑ray and CT equipment safely and efficiently in accordance with departmental protocols.
• Produce accurate, high‑quality diagnostic images for interpretation by licensed practitioners.
• Maintain competency in all assigned imaging procedures and equipment.
• Adhere to radiation safety standards and best practices to minimize patient and staff exposure.
• Collaborate with physicians and healthcare team members to support timely and accurate patient diagnosis and treatment.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and organizational policies and procedures.

Additional Job Description

Education

Graduation from an accredited school of radiologic technology.

Experience

Required: Minimum 2 years experience in diagnostic imaging & CT. Preferred experience in emergency, pediatric, and orthopedic exams in both modalities. Must be able to produce very high‑quality special imaging with little supervision. Must be able to function effectively in a team‑oriented environment. Must be familiar with age specific criteria.

Required Registration/Certification

• Registered with American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) & South Carolina Radiation Quality Standards Association (SCRQSA). Must be registered in both Radiography (ARRT) (R) & Computed Tomography (ARRT) (C)
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.
