Job summary

University of Maryland Medical System seeks a qualified radiologic professional to perform diagnostic imaging across multiple modalities, including CT, MRI, and Mammography. The role requires ARRT registration and MD licensure in radiologic practices, with at least 3 years of clinical experience.

The incumbent will adhere to safety standards, document patient care in EHRs, and participate in performance improvement initiatives while supporting student training and departmental operations.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree, Certificate, or advanced degree in radiologic technology from an accred­ited program.
  • Working competency in two additional modalities.
  • Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience.
  • ARRT registration.
  • Certification in two modalities (CT, MRI, Mammography, Ultrasound, PET CT, Nuclear Medicine, or Interventional Radiology).
  • MD licensure in radiologic modalities.

Responsibilities

  • Perform diagnostic imaging procedures across two or more modalities.
  • Work with safety and regulatory standards (Joint Commission, state, federal).
  • Document patient care activity in EHR systems.
  • Maintain equipment and supplies; notify for restocking.
  • Lead departmental performance improvement initiatives as needed.
  • Assist in student training or preceptorship.

Job Requirements

Under minimal supervision, performs routine and specialized diagnostic imaging procedures in two or more imaging modalities.

Primary Responsibilities

The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to this classification. They are not to be construed as an exhaustive list of all job responsibilities performed.

  • Executes basic clinical competence in general radiology, in all locations across all patient types; in addition, performs exams and procedures as needed in one of the following modalities: CT, MRI, Mammography, Interventional Radiology, Ultrasound, PET CT, and/or Nuclear Medicine in accordance to facility protocols. Selects accurate technical factors on an individual patient basis and demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to age of the patient. Administers contrast according to facility policy.
  • Actively participates in the Clinical Ladder Program, if implemented, at the individual System hospital/location, meeting and maintaining all Program standards and requirements.
  • Applies knowledge of radiology principles and practices, including anatomy and physiology, radiation/MR safety, and physics, patient positioning and patient care skills. Adheres to Joint Commission, State, Federal and departmental regulatory compliance standards.
  • Documents accurate patient care activity in various electronic health records systems.
  • Ensures a safe and appropriate work environment. Maintains supplies and inventory in area. Informs appropriate colleague when supplies need to be ordered from outside vendors. Documents and reports related equipment/environmental problems and follows up for resolution, in accordance with policy.
  • Actively participates, and takes a leadership role, in departmental and organizational performance improvement initiatives and efforts to improve workflows, patient experience and quality. Participates as a clinical competency evaluator for students and/or a preceptor for employee training and educational activities.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience - Required
  • Associate degree, Certificate, or advanced degree in radiologic technology, or modalities of employment, from a program accredited by an agency recognized by the US Department of Education (USDE) or Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).
  • Working competency in two additional modalities
  • Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience
  • Registered with American Registry Radiologic Technology (ARRT)
  • Certification in two of the following: CT, MRI, Mammography, Ultrasound, PET CT, Nuclear Medicine, or Interventional Radiology
  • Licensed in State of MD in modalities of employment
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support Certification
Education & Experience - Preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in health science or related field
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in additional two modalities
