Position Summary

The primary responsibility of a multi-modality technologist is to perform procedures involving any 2 imaging modalities, producing images for interpretation by licensed practitioners.

Essential Job Functions

• Perform duties for any 2 imaging modalities (e.g., XR, CT, MRI) (e.g., ARRT, RDMS).
• Meet continuing education and clinical requirements as per regulatory standards.
• Operate equipment and accessories, and be knowledgeable about workflows, procedures, and processes of the 2 modalities.
• Select appropriate imaging sequences considering protocols and data acquisition factors.
• Obtain patient clinical history and lab work, documenting information for licensed practitioners; use POC devices for lab work.
• Apply safety principles focused on the 2 modalities to minimize risks to patients, self, and others.
• Provide radiation and other protection specific to the modalities.
• Verify patient identification using two identifiers and validate the procedure request.
• Perform venipuncture, administer medications/contrast as prescribed, and use power injectors following manufacturer guidelines when required.
• Participate in on-call scheduling as needed.

Licensing/Certification Requirements

Certification and registration with ARRT, RDMS, or CNMT are required. Competence in 2 of the following areas is required, with certification obtained within 12 months: Bone Densitometry, Breast Sonography, Radiologic Technology, CT, MRI, Ultrasound, Nuclear Medicine, among others. BLS certification is required at hire for certain locations. State licensure is preferred unless mandated by state law.

Educational Qualifications

Associate's degree from an ARRT-accredited institute or approved program in Nuclear Medicine Technology or Ultrasound/Medical Sonography is preferred.

Work Experience

Minimum 1 year of healthcare experience is preferred.
