Position Overview

The primary responsibility of a multi-modality technologist is to perform procedures with any 2 imaging modalities, producing images for interpretation by a licensed practitioner.

Essential Job Functions

1. Performs duties for any 2 imaging modalities (e.g., XR, CT, MRI), with appropriate certifications (e.g., ARRT, RDMS).
2. Meets continuing education and clinical requirements as per regulatory standards.
3. Operates equipment and understands workflows, procedures, and processes of the modalities.
4. Selects appropriate imaging sequences following protocols.
5. Obtains patient history and lab work, documenting all information for use by practitioners.
6. Applies safety principles to minimize risks to patients, self, and others.
7. Provides radiation and other protection specific to the modalities.
8. Verifies patient identity and procedure requests.
9. Performs venipuncture and administers medications/contrast when required.
10. Uses power injectors following manufacturer guidelines.
11. Scheduled for on-call as required.

Licensing/Certification

Certification with ARRT, RDMS, or CNMT is required. Certification in 2 of the following must be obtained within 12 months: Bone Densitometry, Breast Sonography, Radiologic Technology, CT, MRI, Ultrasonography, Nuclear Medicine, among others. BLS certification is required at hire for certain locations.

Education

Associate's degree from an ARRT-accredited institute or approved program in Nuclear Medicine or Sonography is preferred.

Work Experience

1 year of healthcare experience preferred.
