Job summary

Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital Needham seeks a Lab Section Supervisor to oversee Chemistry, Hematology/Coagulation, Urinalysis, Immunology and Microbiology sections. You will direct testing, training, quality systems, and staff development in a fast-paced hospital lab.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Medical Technology, 5+ years in a clinical lab with leadership experience, and proficiency with LIS and computer systems. Monday–Friday schedule with some on-call coverage for holidays or weekends.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or equivalent education, training and experience required.
• Master's degree preferred.
• 3-5 years related work experience required.
• 5 years of experience in a clinical laboratory, with at least 3 in the specific specialty area.
• Experience with computer systems including MS Office applications.

Responsibilities

• Develops, trains and monitors testing procedures.
• Maintains quality control and quality assurance programs.
• Reviews test results and ensures regulatory compliance (CAP, TJC, CLIA, AABB).
• Performs phlebotomy and supervises staff daily.
• Schedules personnel and manages workload within budget.
• Provides orientation and staff development for section personnel.
