Responsibilities include equipment calibration, room setup, data entry, and assisting radiologists during complex procedures. Texas licensure and ARRT certifications are required, with BLS certification also expected.

Qualifications

  • Graduate from an approved/accredited School of Radiologic Technology.
  • Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification required.
  • Licensed by Texas Medical Board as Medical Radiologic Technologist.
  • Certification in two modalities beyond radiology (ARRT(R)(T)(M), ARRT(MR), ARRT(CT), NMTCB)

  • Supports and communicates the Mission, Vision, and Values of St. Joseph Medical Center.
  • Prepares patient for procedure, screens for contrast reactions, notes physician order, and adheres to safety standards.
  • Performs daily calibrations, cleans area, maintains infection control, stocks supplies, checks for expired items.
  • Assists Radiologist/Physician during complex/invasive procedures, including room and supply prep.
  • Maintains accuracy under high-volume, follows policies to protect patient care.
  • Completes order entry and exam data entry promptly for radiologist review.

Summary: Promotes quality patient care through the performance of routine and invasive imaging procedures utilizing appropriate technique, established protocols, physician direction and age specific guidelines. Maintains thorough knowledge of PACS, equipment, supplies, radiation safety and quality assurance guidelines and applies such knowledge in day-to-day performance of duties.

Shift:Fulltime M-Th 9p-7a

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Consistently supports and communicates the Mission, Vision, and Values of St. Joseph Medical Center.
  • Prepares patient for procedure by noting appropriate medical history, carefully screening patients for contrast reactions, noting the correct physician order, and maintaining rigid adherence to department safety standards.
  • Performs daily calibrations of equipment, cleans scanning area before and after each patient and at shift breaks, adheres to infection control practices pre and post patient care, stocks supplies and routinely exams stock to make sure no expired items are in the department.
  • Provides Radiologist/Physician with assistance during complex, invasive, and therapeutic procedures, including room and supply preparation.
  • Able to adjust to high volume situations and critical needs without sacrificing accuracy/quality. Follows policy and procedures when imaging patients.
  • Completes order entry and exam data entry in a timely manner that allowing for images to be viewed and reported on by radiologist.

  • Consistently follows patient care, and facility guidelines and procedures in performance.
  • Collaborates with inter and interprofessional colleagues to ensure quality outcomes.

  • Completes annual education requirements.
  • Maintains competency, as evidenced by completion of competency validation requirements.
  • Promotes of a culture of patient safety which results in the identification and reduction of unsafe practices.
  • Uses professional judgment and critical thinking to prepare, prioritize, and execute the patient's plan of care consistent with patient assessment data, physicians' treatment plans, and professional standards of care.
  • Implements measures to prevent exposure to infectious pathogens and communicable conditions.
  • Identifies risks and hazards to patients through various risk assessments, with actions taken to mitigate patient harm.
  • Follows the St. Joseph Medical Center Guidelines related to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), designed to prevent, or detect unauthorized disclosure of Protected Health Information (PHI).

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Education: Graduate from an approved/accredited School of Radiologic Technology required.

Certification: Required certification in two of the following modalities beyond radiology. ARRT(R)(T)(M) (MR)(N)(CT), ARMRIT certification, NMTCB

Licensed: Texas Medical Board Medical Radiologic Technologist.

Technical, clerical, critical thinking, and interpersonal skills relevant to patient care/area.

Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification required. Other certification requirements as defined by the certification policy.

Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
