Job summary

A healthcare facility in Houston is seeking a skilled Radiologic Technologist to perform diagnostic and invasive CT scan procedures. Job description

POSITION SUMMARY:

Promotes quality patient care through the performance of diagnostic and invasive CT scan procedures utilizes appropriate technique, established protocols, physician direction, and age specific guidelines. Maintains thorough knowledge of contrast agents, CT scanners, injector systems, supplies, radiation safety and quality assurance guidelines and applies such knowledge in day-to-day performance of duties.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepares patients for procedure by noting appropriate medical history, carefully screening patients for contrast reactions, noting the correct physician order, and maintaining rigid adherence to department safety standards.
  • Performs daily calibrations of CT scanners, cleans scanning area before and after each patient and at shift breaks, adheres to infection control practices pre and post patient care, stocks supplies and routinely exams stock to make sure no expired items are in the department.
  • Provides Radiologist/Physician with assistance during complex, invasive, and therapeutic procedures, including room and supply preparation.
  • Able to adjust to high volume situations and critical needs without sacrificing accuracy/quality.
  • Follows policy and procedures when performing CT scans.
  • Completes order entry and exam data entry in a timely manner that allows for images to be viewed and reported on by radiologists.
  • Consistently follows patient care, and facility guidelines and procedures in performance.
  • Collaborates with inter and interprofessional colleagues to ensure quality outcomes.
  • Uses professional judgment and critical thinking to prepare, prioritize, and execute the patient's plan of care consistently with patient assessment data, physicians' treatment plans, and professional standards of care.
  • Implement measures to prevent exposure to infectious pathogens and communicable conditions. Identifies risks and hazards to patients through various risk assessments, with actions taken to mitigate patient harm.

  • ARRT (R) (CT) Required Licensed: Texas Medical Board Medical Radiologic Technologist Technical, clerical, critical thinking, and interpersonal skills relevant to patient care/area,
  • Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification required,
  • Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing,
