Job description

Multi-Disciplined Inspector & Plans Examiner

CAP Government, Inc. is seeking an immediate hire for a licensed Multi-Disciplined Plans Examiner and Inspector to provide construction project inspection and plan review services. The role involves interpreting regulations, reviewing blueprints, product approvals, shop drawings, and other project documents. Some travel may be required for inspections or managing projects within the assigned area. Candidates must demonstrate professionalism, possess technical and industry experience, and work well in a team.

Responsibilities and Qualifications

  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to relay technical information clearly to owners, applicants, contractors, and municipal staff, tailoring communication to the audience.
  • Respond to inquiries regarding electrical code compliance.
  • Implement enforcement procedures to correct violations under the jurisdiction's guidance.
  • Collaborate effectively with clients, developers, architects, engineers, and contractors on code compliance issues.
  • Coordinate with various jurisdictions and inspection staff to resolve issues and ensure timely decisions.
  • Prepare written notices and correspondence outlining necessary corrections for code compliance.
  • Conduct technical inspections and plan reviews for commercial and residential structures to ensure code compliance.
  • Participate in discussions on code interpretations and attend relevant training to enhance skills.
  • Respond to inquiries about codes, regulations, and processes from clients and the public.
  • Establish and maintain professional relationships with city staff, builders, designers, and the public.
  • Analyze complex issues and make timely decisions.
  • Perform plan reviews for residential and commercial projects as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Manager.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • State of Florida Professional Engineer (PE); or
  • State of Florida Plan Review License (PX) in building, electrical, mechanical, and/or plumbing; or
  • State of Florida Inspector License (BN) in building, electrical, mechanical, and/or plumbing; or
  • ICC Residential & Commercial Plans Examiner and/or Inspection certification in relevant disciplines; or
  • Possession of the Journeyman M/E/P Certificate with four years of experience as a Journeyman electrician.

Must have knowledge of the Florida Building Code and related construction regulations. Ability to interpret codes and evaluate projects for compliance.
