Job description

Multi-Disciplined Inspector & Plans Examiner

CAP Government, Inc. is seeking to immediately hire a licensed Multi-Disciplined Plans Examiner and Inspector for construction project inspection and plan review services. The role involves interpreting regulations, reviewing blueprints, product approvals, shop drawings, and other project documents. Some travel may be required for inspections and project management in the assigned area. Candidates must demonstrate professionalism, technical expertise, industry experience, and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities and Qualifications
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to convey technical information clearly to owners, applicants, contractors, and municipal staff, tailoring communication to the audience.
  • Respond to inquiries regarding electrical code compliance.
  • Implement enforcement procedures to address violations under the jurisdiction's guidelines.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members and resolve issues promptly.
  • Engage with clients, developers, architects, engineers, and contractors regarding code compliance for ongoing and proposed projects.
  • Coordinate with client jurisdictions and inspection staff to streamline processes and resolve conflicts.
  • Prepare written reports, correction notices, and correspondence outlining necessary corrections for code compliance.
  • Perform technical inspections and plan reviews for commercial and residential structures to ensure compliance with electrical codes, collaborating with staff and jurisdictions to resolve conflicts.
  • Participate in discussions on code interpretations and attend relevant training to enhance skills.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, staff, and the public.
  • Analyze complex issues and make timely decisions.
  • Perform plan reviews for residential and commercial projects as needed, providing high-quality customer service.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Manager.
Education and Experience
  • State of Florida Professional Engineer (PE); or
  • State of Florida Plan Review License (PX) in building, electrical, mechanical, and/or plumbing; or
  • State of Florida Inspector License (BN) in building, electrical, mechanical, and/or plumbing; or
  • ICC Residential & Commercial Plans Examiner and/or Inspection certification in relevant disciplines; or
  • Journeyman M/E/P Certificate with four years of experience as a Journeyman electrician.

Must have knowledge of the Florida Building Code and related construction regulations. Ability to interpret codes and evaluate projects for compliance is essential.
