Job summary

The Save Mart Companies in California’s Central Valley invites applications for the Multi-Purpose Clerk. The role may be assigned to Center Store, Produce, Meat/Seafood, Bakery/Deli, or Janitorial.

You will promote sales, answer customer questions, handle special orders, and practice safe food handling while keeping work areas clean and stocked for freshness. Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Excellent customer service and communication (verbal and written) skills.
• Six months of related experience.

Responsibilities

• Operate the checkstand according to company policy and procedures; memorize PLU codes and update with new products; stock and rotate product; perform POS and inventory activities.
• Produce: receive, inspect, log, and rotate produce; trim, wash, wrap; maintain freshness and department appeal; keep areas clean.
• Meat/Seafood: receive, inspect, log, weigh and package; stock and merchandise; provide customer service at the counter; handle special orders; may operate slicers.
• Bakery/Deli: receive, inspect, log; weigh package; rotate and merchandise; take special orders; may operate ovens and equipment; keep areas clean.
• Janitorial: maintain cleanliness and sanitation; sweep, mop, clean restrooms and areas; operate janitorial equipment as needed; assist with other duties.
