Qualifications

• Experience in electrical/mechanical maintenance in an industrial setting.
• Ability to troubleshoot electrical controls, PLCs, motors, and drives.
• Experience with preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
• Familiarity with 480V electrical systems and motor controllers.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and repair electrical/electronic equipment, hydraulic, mechanical, and pneumatic systems.
• Install, maintain, and tune electrical/instrumentation systems including VFDs and PLCs.
• Demonstrate a Fix it right the first time mentality.
• Maintain knowledge of the production process and address board-related issues.
• Perform mechanical and electrical maintenance under general direction.
• Execute corrective, preventive, and predictive maintenance.
• Use MP2 CMMS to submit, update, and close work orders.
• Interpret diagrams, manuals, blueprints and engineering specs.
• Perform minor facility repairs like plumbing and lighting.
• Work 12-hour night shift with personal tools.

Georgia‑Pacific is seeking a Maintenance Technician at our Huntsville, AL facility. This position creates value for the facility by performing preventative and corrective maintenance leading to increased uptime and reliability, thus helping the facility meet its production and quality goals.

Compensation & Schedule

Salary: $34.28 – $38.85 per hour (depending on experience).

Shift: 12‑hour night shift on a 2‑2‑3 schedule, including overtime, weekends, and holidays.

Our team safely assists with the production of corrugated boxes for valued customers.

What You Will Do

• Troubleshoot and repair electrical/electronic equipment, hydraulic, mechanical, and pneumatic systems; climb ladders and complete tasks at heights.
• Install, maintain, and tune electrical and instrumentation systems, including Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs).
• Demonstrate a “Fix it right the first time” mentality.
• Maintain a working knowledge of the production process, including identifying board‑related issues.
• Perform mechanical and electrical maintenance effectively under general direction.
• Execute corrective, preventive, and predictive maintenance.
• Use MP2 (CMMS) efficiently, submitting, updating, and closing work orders.
• Interpret diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, maintenance procedures, blueprints, and engineering specifications.
• Perform minor facility repairs, including plumbing and lighting.
• Work a 12‑hour night shift schedule, providing personal standard hand tools.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

• Electrical/mechanical experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
• Experience troubleshooting electrical controls, PLCs, AC and DC motors, motor controllers, and drives.
• Experience troubleshooting bearings, chains, sprockets, gearboxes, and conveyors.
• Experience with preventive and predictive maintenance routines and practices.
• Experience with single and three‑phase electrical repair/troubleshooting up to 480 volts.
• Experience using a computer for record‑keeping and documentation functions.

What Will Put You Ahead

• Two‑year technical degree or higher in Industrial Maintenance Technology.
