Job summary

East Alabama Medical Center is recruiting for a Medical Care Technician role focused on direct patient care and support across the continuum of care. The role emphasizes teamwork with nurses, MDs, and other specialties, including assisting with daily activities and basic clinical tasks.

The position offers on-the-job training in medical terminology, phlebotomy, and BLS, with an emphasis on patient safety and compassionate care.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or 10 years of relevant experience
• No prior experience is required.
• EAH will provide on the job training: medical terminology class, phlebotomy clinical, BLS class, and 1-on-1 training with an MCT in your department.
• Required Registration/License/Certification
• BLS must be obtained within 90 days of hire date. EAH will provide.
• Preferred Education
• N/A
• Preferred Experience
• 1 year or more of Med/ Surg MCT experience.

Responsibilities

• Obtaining Blood Glucose readings
• Helping patient with mealtime feedings
• Bathing
• Patient restroom assistance and cleaning
• Ambulation of the patient
• Grooming
• Lifting, turning, and repositioning of patients in beds and chairs
• Blood draws for patient labs
• Collaborating with nurses, MDs, and other patient care specialties
• Emptying and obtaining wound or surgical drain output
• Wound or surgical incision site dressing changes
