Job summary

East Alabama Medical Center is seeking a Medical Care Technician to provide safe, compassionate care under nursing supervision. Responsibilities include assisting with meals, daily living activities, vital signs, wound care support, and patient comfort in a hospital setting.

On‑the‑job training will cover medical terminology, phlebotomy basics, and BLS, with opportunities to grow in Med/Surg specialties while collaborating with nurses and physicians.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or 10 years of relevant experience.
• No prior experience is required.
• EAH will provide on the job training: medical terminology class, phlebotomy clinical, BLS class, and 1-on-1 training with an MCT in your department.
• Required Registration/License/Certification.
• BLS must be obtained within 90 days of hire date. EAH will provide.
• Preferred Education: N/A
• Preferred Experience: 1 year or more of Med/Surg MCT experience.

Responsibilities

• Obtaining Blood Glucose readings
• Helping patient with mealtime feedings
• Bathing
• Patient restroom assistance and cleaning
• Ambulation of the patient
• Grooming
• Lifting, turning, and repositioning of patients in beds and chairs
• Blood draws for patient labs
• Collaborating with nurses, MDs, and other patient care specialties
• Emptying and obtaining wound or surgical drain output
• Wound or surgical incision site dressing changes
