Job summary

Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (Xilinx subsidiary) seeks a Silicon Design Engineer to research, design, develop, and test mixed-signal components for semiconductor devices. You will define architectures, guide verification, and support product bring-up with cross-functional teams.

Three years of relevant experience are required, with a Master’s degree preferred. Proficiency in C/C++/Python and Unix/Linux, plus ASIC design tool familiarity, is essential for success in this role.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Computer, Electrical or Electronic Engineering or related field is required.
• Alternate: Bachelor’s degree with 5 years of progressive post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered or a closely related engineering role.
• Three years of experience in the offered job or related engineering role.
• Experience with mixed-signal circuit design emphasizing Clock Distribution Networks and SI/PI performance.
• Experience with mixed-signal design blocks and low power design techniques for high-speed, custom digital circuits.
• Functional verification of microprocessors and design flows/methodologies for chip verification.
• Exposure to ASIC design tools (synthesis, simulation, equivalence checking, static timing analysis) and large-scale ASIC chip physical design.
• Proficiency in C, C++, or Python; Unix or Linux environments.

Responsibilities

• Research, design, develop, and test electronic components and systems for semiconductor manufacturing.
• Oversee architecture, design, verification, and documentation for mixed-signal design development.
• Lead development of multidimensional designs involving complex IC layout.
• Participate in product bring-up, debugging, test plans and characterization reports.

Job Role and Responsibility: Xilinx, Inc., a subsidiary of AMD, Inc., is hiring MTS Silicon Design Engineer to Research, design, develop, and/or test electronic components and systems for semiconductor and related device manufacturing, employing knowledge of electronic theory. Oversee definition, design, verification, and/or documentation for custom mixed-signal design development. Determine architecture design, logic design, and/or system simulation. Define module interfaces/formats for simulation. Lead the development of multidimensional designs involving the layout of complex integrated circuits. Participate in product bring-up and debug and contribute to test-plans and characterization reports Evaluate all aspects of the process flow from high-level designs to synthesis, place and route, and timing and power use. Work with cross-functional teams including engineers to develop custom mixed signal/layout design, working on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors. Drive projects or processes of significant technical importance. Exercise independent judgment to select methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. Utilize knowledge of or wide-ranging experience with computers and electronics, including circuit boards, processors, chips, electronic equipment, design techniques, tools, and principles to resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways. Apply knowledge of engineering principles, best practices, and technologies to the design, development, and testing of various AMD products.

Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or related field.

Alternate combination of education and experience: Employer will alternatively accept a Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or related field and five (5) years of progressive post baccalaureate experience in the job offered or a closely related engineering role.
