Job summary

AMD, Inc. is hiring MTS Systems Design Engineers to research, design, develop, and test electronic components for semiconductor manufacturing. You will define processes for hardware/software compatibility and system interfaces, while collaborating on Python applications and architecture across multiple products.

Position requires deep knowledge of x86 microarchitecture, memory controllers, and RTL debugging, with limited supervision and a focus on scalable, secure system design.

Job Role and Responsibility: AMD, Inc., is hiring MTS Systems Design Engineers to Research, design, develop, and/or test electronic components and systems for semiconductor and related device manufacturing, employing knowledge of electronic theory. Design a complete and complex framework, system or product. Define processes for technical platforms, system specifications, input/output and working parameters for hardware and/or software compatibility. Conceive system interfaces and business application prototypes. Collaborate on the development, testing, and maintenance of Python applications. Identify, analyze and resolve system design weaknesses. Influence the shaping of future products by contributing to the framework (architecture) used across multiple products or systems. Provide multi-layered technical expertise for next generation initiatives. Evaluate all aspects of the process flow from high-level designs to synthesis, place and route, and timing and power use. Work on problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors. Under limited supervision, exercise judgment within defined company procedures and practices to select methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. Utilize knowledge of computers and electronics, including circuit boards, processors, chips, and electronic equipment, as well as knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles. Apply knowledge of engineering principles, best practices, and technologies to the design, development, and testing of various AMD products.

Qualifications: Degree required

Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Embedded Systems, or related field.

Qualifications: Amount and type of experience required: Three (3) years of experience in the job offered or closely related engineering role.

Alternate combination of education and experience: Employer will alternatively accept a Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Embedded Systems, or related field and five (5) years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered or closely related engineering role.

Specific skills required: The following skills are required:

Position requires three (3) years of experience in the following:

1. Pre-silicon and post-silicon validation;
2. Performing validation and release of microcode patches, ensuring system security and performance integrity;
3. Designing and optimizing automation frameworks using Python; and
4. x86 microarchitecture.

Position requires six (6) months of experience in the following:

1. Designing validation test plans and ensuring integration with memory controllers;
2. SoC validation and memory controller validation; and
3. Debugging RTL-level issues to ensure core performance reliability.
