Job summary

Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (AMD), including its Xilinx subsidiary, is seeking an MTS Silicon Design Engineer to research, design, develop, and test electronic components and systems for ASIC development and related semiconductor manufacturing.

You will work with cross-functional teams on architecture, verification, layout, and timing, contributing to high‑speed I/O, signal and power integrity, and system simulations in a fast-paced, innovative environment in San Jose, CA.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Electronic/Computer/Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Three years of related experience in silicon design or ASIC development.
• Experience with chip verification, timing, and power integrity preferred.

Responsibilities

• Research, design, develop, and test electronic components and systems for ASIC development.
• Oversee definition, design, verification, and documentation for ASIC projects.
• Lead multidimensional designs involving complex IC layouts and system simulations.
• Work with cross-functional teams to optimize flow from high-level designs to synthesis and place/route.
• Analyze and resolve issues in memory, signal integrity, and electrical compliance testing.

Job Role and Responsibility: Xilinx, Inc., a subsidiary of AMD, Inc., is hiring MTS Silicon Design Engineer to Research, design, develop, and/or test electronic components and systems for semiconductor and related device manufacturing, employing knowledge of electronic theory. Oversee definition, design, verification, and/or documentation for ASIC development. Design electronic circuits and components. Determine architecture design, logic design, and/or system simulation. Define module interfaces/formats for simulation. Lead the development of multidimensional designs involving the layout of complex integrated circuits. Evaluate all aspects of the process flow from high-level designs to synthesis, place and route, and timing and power use. Work with cross-functional teams including engineers to develop ASIC/layout design, working on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors. Drive projects or processes of significant technical importance. Exercise independent judgment to select methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. Utilize knowledge of or wide-ranging experience with computers and electronics, including circuit boards, processors, chips, electronic equipment, design techniques, tools, and principles to resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways. Apply knowledge of engineering principles, best practices, and technologies to the design, development, and testing of various AMD products.

Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field.

Qualifications: Amount and type of experience required: Three (3) years of experience in the job offered or a closely related engineering role.

Specific skills required: The following skills are required:

Position requires three (3) years of experience in the following:

• Semiconductor product development cycles;
• Design flows and methodologies used for chip verification;
• Signal and power integrity;
• High-speed I/O design and electrical compliance testing in Ethernet or PCIe;
• Analyzing and optimizing memory modules;
• Board level design and simulation;
• System level design and simulation;
• Unix or Linux environments;
• Memory management (DRAM, SSD and server clusters); and
• Signal integrity and IBIS-AMI simulation.
