Job summary

Sterling Crane LLC in Montana is seeking an experienced Project Crane Operator for our TA. The role requires safely operating cranes, selecting correct equipment, and adhering to company procedures and customer requirements.

Minimum 3 years of rough terrain/moblie crane experience, a current NCCCO Crane Operators License, TWIC card, ability to read technical drawings, and strong teamwork are essential. Daily per diem is offered; you’ll coordinate with ground crews and maintain logs in varied

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years experience with rough terrain/cranes.
• Current TWIC card.
• NCCCO Crane Operators License required.
• Ability to read and understand technical drawings.
• Strong verbal and written communication; team oriented.
• Flexibility to work overtime; reliable and safety minded.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate a variety of cranes following procedures and guidelines.
• Inspect ground conditions and clearances; monitor hazards.
• Maintain equipment through routine inspections and minor repairs.
• Keep logs and records of operations and communications with ground crew.
• Respond to instructions quickly and work well in a team.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

We boast one of the largest inventories of modern lifting equipment in North America, in excess of 1000 units. We are in need of Project Crane Operators for our Montana TA.

Job Purpose

The crane operator is required to safely operate cranes efficiently and maintain a standard of accuracy that aligns with the company procedures and customer requirements.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Efficiently and safely operate a variety of specialized machinery in accordance with established procedures and guidelines ensuring the right selection and set up is made regarding crane, lift or hoist
• Inspects and assesses ground conditions as well as any possible overhead obstructions
• Maintain equipment through daily inspections, to include performance of routine maintenance and minor repairs.
• Maintain logs and records of operational activities
• Maintain visual and radio communications with ground operators according to best practices and site safety regulations, and respond to questions and instructions clearly and quickly
• Performs other duties and tasks as assigned.

Required Qualifications & Skills

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Minimum 3 years experience working with rough terrain cranes, carry decks, crawlers and mobile cranes
• Current TWIC card
• Successfully pass post offer drug and physical screens and have a background that meets company requirements
• Dependable and reliable with flexibility to work overtime, when necessary
• Maintain a current NCCCO Crane Operators License for qualified equipment
• Ability to read and understand technical drawings, materials or instructions
• Good verbal and written communication skills to understand instructions, applicable safety regulations, and to maintain records
• Must have strong ability work well within a team environment.

Physical Requirements

• Strong depth perception and quick reaction time
• Ability to pick up, lift, carry, and move a minimum of 65lbs.
• Visual capabilities to follow hand signals, maintain all logs and operate machinery
• Ability to sit for long periods of time
• Ability to work in a variety of weather including extreme heat and cold
