Job summary

Sterling Crane LLC in Texas is seeking a professional crane operator to safely operate a range of cranes and hoists, maintain equipment, and document operations. You will work with ground crews to ensure efficient lifts, verify ground conditions, and comply with site safety regulations.

Required qualifications include a high school diploma, 3+ years crane experience (rough terrain/carry decks), Class A CDL, NCCCO license, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience with rough terrain cranes, carry decks, crawlers and mobile cranes.
  • Must hold a Class A CDL.
  • Pass post-offer drug and physical screens and meet background requirements.
  • Dependable with flexibility to work overtime.
  • Maintain NCCCO Crane Operators License for qualified equipment.
  • Able to read and understand technical drawings and manuals.
  • Strong verbal and written communication; follow safety regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate a variety of specialized cranes and equipment per procedures.
  • Assess ground conditions and check for overhead obstructions.
  • Perform daily inspections and routine maintenance on equipment.
  • Keep logs and records of operations.
  • Maintain clear hand signals and radio communications with ground crews.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

The crane operator is required to safely operate cranes efficiently and maintain a standard of accuracy that aligns with the company procedures and customer requirements.

Duties And Responsibilities
  • Efficiently and safely operate a variety of specialized machinery in accordance with established procedures and guidelines ensuring the right selection and set up is made regarding crane, lift or hoist
  • Inspects and assesses ground conditions as well as any possible overhead obstructions
  • Maintain equipment through daily inspections, to include performance of routine maintenance and minor repairs.
  • Maintain logs and records of operational activities
  • Maintain visual and radio communications with ground operators according to best practices and site safety regulations, and respond to questions and instructions clearly and quickly
  • Performs other duties and tasks as assigned.
Required Qualifications & Skills
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 3 years experience working with rough terrain cranes, carry decks, crawlers and mobile cranes
  • Class A CDL
  • Successfully pass post offer drug and physical screens and have a background that meets company requirements
  • Dependable and reliable with flexibility to work overtime, when necessary
  • Maintain a current NCCCO Crane Operators License for qualified equipment
  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings, materials or instructions
  • Good verbal and written communication skills to understand instructions, applicable safety regulations, and to maintain records
  • Must have strong ability work well within a team environment.
Physical Requirements
  • Strong depth perception and quick reaction time
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 65 lbs. occasionally and 50 lbs. regularly
  • Visual capabilities to follow hand signals, maintain all logs and operate machinery
  • Ability to sit for long periods of time
  • Ability to work in a variety of weather including extreme heat and cold
