Job summary

Franciscan Health Indianapolis is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician or Medical Technologist to join the laboratory team. The role involves processing specimens, performing waived to high complexity tests, and reporting results per established procedures.

The position requires an MLS/MLT credential path (Associate or Bachelor) with preferred 1 year of clinical lab experience and the ability to participate in quality control and QA programs per JCAHO, CAP, and CLIA standards.

Qualifications

• MLT: Associates degree in a laboratory science or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution.
• MT: Bachelor degree in medical laboratory science/medical technology from an accredited college or university.
• Or: Bachelor degree in chemical, physical or biological sciences.
• At least 1 year of pertinent full-time clinical laboratory experience or training preferred.

Responsibilities

• Process specimens and perform tests (waived, moderate and high complexity) as authorized by the Director.
• Report results according to established procedures.
• Participate in quality control procedures and quality management standards.
• Comply with QA/QC standards from JCAHO, CAP, CLIA, and other agencies.
• Perform specimen collection as necessary.

Shift: 3:30 AM to 1:30 PM, 2-3-2 schedule; 7 shifts per pay period; Weekends and holidays as they fall in the 7 on 7 off rotation; Hours may vary as needs dictate;

WHAT WILL YOU DO

This individual is responsible for specimen processing, test performance and reporting test results. Testing performed will include waived, moderate and high complexity tests as authorized by the Director. He/she will report results of all tests performed according to established procedures. In addition this individual will participate fully in all quality control procedures and comply with quality assurance and quality management standards within the department as outlined by the department, JCAHO, CAP, CLIA and other applicable agencies. He/she will perform specimen collection as necessary.
