Job summary

Ascension St. Joseph - Chicago is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician/Technologist responsible for specimen processing, test performance, and reporting results.

The role includes participation in quality control and adherence to QA/QM standards, with potential specimen collection as needed. Required qualifications include MLT or MT credentials (or a bachelor’s in related sciences) and at least 1 year of clinical lab experience or training.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in chemical, physical or biological sciences.
• At least 1 year of pertinent full-time clinical laboratory experience or training preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform specimen processing, test performance and reporting results per established procedures.
• Participate in quality control procedures and comply with quality assurance and quality management standards; may perform specimen collection as needed.

Responsibilities

• This individual is responsible for specimen processing, test performance and reporting test results. Testing performed will include waived, moderate and high complexity tests as authorized by the Director. He/she will report results of all tests performed according to established procedures. In addition, this individual will participate fully in all quality control procedures and comply with quality assurance and quality management standards within the department as outlined by the department, JCAHO, CAP, CLIA and other applicable agencies. He/she will perform specimen collection as necessary.
