Job summary

Alternative Family Services is seeking a Caseworker in San Francisco to supervise and support foster placements, develop treatment plans, and coordinate services for youth and families. Qualifications

• Master’s degree in social work(MSW) or related field that meets educational requirements as required by California Code of Regulations (CCR), Title 22
• Ability to obtain fingerprint and government required background clearances
• 1–2 years experience working with children and families is preferable
• Able to drive and transport children in a personal vehicle maintained in safe working order
• California driver’s license with acceptable driving record and auto insurance
• Able to respond to client and family crisis including weekends and after hours
• Ability to work collaboratively in complex family systems
• Experience with diverse cultural populations
• Strong integrity, honesty and work ethic
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Able to stay professional under stress
• Able to interact calmly with clients who may act out
• Able to work with co-workers, county reps, and treatment teams
• Able to work with minimal supervision and manage time
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus!

Responsibilities

• Supervise and support placements of youth in foster homes
• Conduct in-home visits and provide ongoing supervision
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans within timelines
• Provide crisis intervention and emergency response
• Maintain accurate case documentation per regulations
• Coordinate services including therapy, education, medical care, and recreation
• Train and support resource parents to ensure quality care
• Collaborate with treatment teams, county representatives, and community partners
• Identify and utilize community resources
• Act as liaison between AFS and other community services
• Participate in staff meetings, training, and support groups
• Ensure HIPAA and agency policy compliance
