Job summary

Cognizant is seeking an MSSQL Database Administrator for the Coppell, Texas area. The role leads SQL Server initiatives on site, drives migration and modernization projects from planning to implementation, and ensures robust HA/DR, security, backups, and performance tuning.

You will coordinate with stakeholders, review technical designs, and mentor teams to deliver reliable database solutions. Onsite work in Coppell with market-competitive compensation.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary onsite technical lead and single point of contact for SQL Server database initiatives and operational activities.
• Lead database migration, upgrade, modernization, and cloud adoption projects from planning through implementation.
• Drive stakeholder communication, project status reporting, and issue resolution.
• Oversee SQL Server performance, availability, security, backup/recovery, and HA/DR environments.
• Review designs and procedures to ensure adherence to best practices.
• Act as escalation point for critical production incidents and drive permanent resolutions.
• Identify automation opportunities to improve efficiency and service quality.

Location: Coppell, Texas

Mandatory skill: Microsoft SQL Server Administration, SQL Server Performance Tuning & Optimization, High Availability / Disaster Recovery (Always On, Clustering, Replication),Database Project Management & Delivery, Technical Leadership & Stakeholder Management
