Arthritis & Rheumatism Associates, P.C. is seeking an experienced MSK Sonographer to perform diagnostic musculoskeletal ultrasound exams in Rockville, MD.

The role involves preparing rooms, ensuring infection control, and maintaining patient safety while capturing high-quality images. The ideal candidate will hold ARDMS certification with at least 5 years of MSK sonography experience, including outpatient settings, and demonstrate strong communication and reporting skills.

Qualifications

• ARDMS certification required.
• Minimum of 5 years of sonography experience; outpatient experience preferred.
• MSK ultrasound competence expected.
• Strong communication and documentation skills required.

Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic MSK sonography examinations as ordered by physicians.
• Prepare examination rooms and ultrasound equipment.
• Assess patient history to determine exam necessity.
• Position patients and adjust settings for image quality and comfort.
• Independently perform sonography procedures and capture images.
• Review images, prepare preliminary findings, and communicate with the interpreter.
• Maintain patient privacy and HIPAA compliance.
• Collaborate with healthcare team and maintain professional relationships.
• Participate in quality improvement activities.

Job Details

Job Title: MSK Sonographer

Location: Rockville, MD (and multiple MD office locations)

Shift: Monday – Thursday (4‑day work week)

Pay: $48–$52 per hour

Full time – Day shift

Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic musculoskeletal (MSK) sonography examinations as ordered by physicians, utilizing appropriate protocols and equipment.
• Prepare examination rooms and ultrasound equipment, ensuring adherence to infection control and patient safety protocols.
• Assess patient clinical history and supporting information to determine the appropriateness and medical necessity of the sonography examination.
• Safely position patients and adjust equipment settings for optimal image acquisition, patient comfort, and to prevent musculoskeletal injuries.
• Independently perform sonography procedures, ensuring accurate capture of anatomical, pathological, and clinical conditions.
• Review and document examination images, prepare preliminary findings, and communicate relevant information to the interpreting physician.
• Maintain patient privacy, confidentiality, and compliance with privacy laws (e.g., HIPAA) and facility policies.
• Collaborate with the healthcare team, establishing and maintaining positive working relationships.
• Participate in quality assessment and improvement activities, ensuring adherence to facility standards.
• Other duties as assigned to meet the needs of the company.

Requirements

• High School Diploma.
• Current certification as a Medical Sonographer (ARDMS).
• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Sonographer; outpatient experience preferred.
• Demonstrated competence in performing MSK sonography examinations.
• Proficiency with computer skills and software for documentation and report generation.
• Strong commitment to professional growth and lifelong learning.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of and compliance with relevant certification, licensure, and safety requirements.
