Job summary

The University of Michigan-Dearborn College of Engineering and Computer Science invites applications for a MSEL Project Center Student Technician. The successful candidate will help oversee the student makerspace, enforce safety practices, deploy resources, and mentor student projects to ensure high standards of operation.

Current UM-Dearborn students with work-study preferred are encouraged to apply. This temporary, hybrid-position offers hands-on experience in a collaborative maker

Qualifications

• Current UM-Dearborn student in good academic standing.
• Experience working in a maker space environment (MSEL or similar).
• Light fabrication experience with metal, wood, PVC, or simple electronics.

Responsibilities

• Enforce best practices in laboratory safety.
• Train students in machine usage per MSEL standards and SOPs.
• Maintain tools and equipment in the MSEL.
• Support MSEL events.
• Contribute to special projects as assigned.
