Job summary

UNLV's College of Engineering is seeking a Makerspace Coordinator to lead the operational and programmatic aspects of the College of Engineering Makerspace. The EMC will oversee facilities, equipment maintenance, safety, inventory, and user support to create a safe, accessible, and highly utilized prototyping environment for education, research, and workforce development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technology with 2+ years lab/machine shop experience.
• Associate degree with 4+ years experience in makerspaces or related labs.
• Experience with equipment maintenance, safety compliance, and user support.
• Experience supervising staff, students, or volunteers.

Responsibilities

• Lead operations of the College of Engineering Makerspace, including facility coordination, equipment maintenance, inventory management, and user support.
• Develop and implement safety protocols, training, and certification programs; ensure compliance and safe operation of all equipment.
• Manage budgetary expenditures, track financial reporting, and plan for future investments in equipment and space improvements.
• Supervise and coordinate student employees and volunteers; set customer service standards and promote inclusive maker culture.
• Collaborate with university units to integrate makerspace technologies into curricula and outreach activities.
