Job summary

Barrington James is seeking an MSAT Lead for a global biopharmaceutical manufacturer undergoing site transformation, to lead a 4-6 member MSAT team and contribute as a hands-on technical resource for process troubleshooting and lifecycle management.

You will partner with upstream/downstream teams and international sites, support drug substance and drug product tech transfer as new facilities come online, and ensure GMP compliance and readiness for inspections.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field with 8+ years in MSAT or pharma/biotech.
• Experience leading or managing a team.
• MSAT experience with Drug Substance and Drug Product preferred.
• Hands-on experience with UFDF and chromatography.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a team of 4-6 technical specialists supporting MSAT activities.
• Provide in-depth technical expertise across process validation, troubleshooting, and optimization for drug substance manufacturing.
• Support lifecycle changes and impact assessments tied to process or equipment modifications.
• Partner cross-functionally with upstream and downstream manufacturing teams, as well as international sites.
• Contribute to future Drug Product tech transfer activities as new facility capabilities come online.
• Ensure regulatory and GMP compliance; support health authority inspections.

A global biopharmaceutical manufacturer, is undergoing a major site transformation, including new facility builds and the introduction of new technology platforms. This MSAT Lead opportunity will lead a team of 4-6 within the Manufacturing Sciences and Technology (MSAT) organization, supporting a next-generation vaccine platform, one of the more complex development efforts in the industry today, along with future drug product tech transfer activities as a new manufacturing line comes online.

This is a people leadership role as much as a technical one: you'll be developing and engaging a team while also serving as a hands‑on technical resource for process troubleshooting, optimization, and lifecycle management.

Job Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a team of 4-6 technical specialists supporting MSAT activities
• Provide in-depth technical expertise across process validation, troubleshooting, and optimization for drug substance manufacturing (bioconjugation, UFDF, chromatography, complexation)
• Support lifecycle changes and impact assessments tied to process or equipment modifications
• Partner cross-functionally with upstream and downstream manufacturing teams, as well as international sites
• Contribute to future Drug Product tech transfer activities (formulation, aseptic filling) as new facility capabilities come online
• Ensure regulatory and GMP compliance; support health authority inspections

Job Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in relevant field with 8+ years of experience in MSAT or related manufacturing technical roles within pharma/biotech, ideally spanning both Drug Substance and Drug Product
• Experience managing or leading a team
• MSAT experience supporting drug products, drug delivery systems, and vaccines
• Hands‑on experience with UFDF, chromatography, and/or related bioprocessing equipment
