Job summary

Lonza Vacaville is seeking a Development Services Scientist I to perform downstream purification process activities under supervision, including lab studies and analytical assays. This fully site‑based role emphasizes real‑time collaboration and adherence to quality standards.

As a candidate, you will execute routine studies, analyze data, draft reports, and contribute to technology transfer and buffer studies.

Responsibilities

• Execute downstream process development studies and lab experiments per SOPs with guidance.
• Perform routine analytical testing and maintain proficiency in downstream assays.
• Serve as Study Director for simple studies with timely execution and reporting.
• Analyze data, interpret results, and support process development decisions.
• Draft study protocols, reports, and presentations; communicate findings in meetings.
• Support technology transfer, satellite runs, buffer/stability studies, and routine downstream investigations.
• Maintain lab compliance through equipment maintenance, documentation review, safety audits, training, and adherence to cGMP.

This is a fully site‑based role. Working together in person supports close, real‑time collaboration and the technical precision needed to manufacture medicines to the highest quality and safety standards.

Development Services Scientist I performs downstream purification process activities under supervisory guidance, including laboratory studies and analytical assay execution. Performs routine work following established procedures, receives direction on new assignments, and applies technical knowledge to complete tasks while seeking guidance when additional clarification or expertise is needed.

What you will do:

• Execute routine downstream process development studies and laboratory experiments in accordance with SOPs, with guidance from senior scientists.
• Perform routine analytical testing and maintain proficiency in relevant downstream analytical assays.
• Serve as Study Director for simple studies, ensuring timely execution, documentation, and communication of results.
• Analyze experimental data, interpret results, and draw sound scientific conclusions to support process development decisions.
• Draft study protocols, reports, and technical presentations, and communicate findings at team and project meetings.
• Support technology transfer activities, satellite runs, buffer/stability studies, and other routine downstream process investigations.
• Maintain laboratory compliance through equipment maintenance, documentation review, safety audits, training completion, and adherence to cGMP and quality requirements.
