Job summary

Greater Midland is seeking a dedicated Middle School Athletics Coach for Jefferson Middle School in Midland, MI. The role focuses on teaching fundamental skills, strategy, and conditioning to middle school athletes, while promoting participation and teamwork in a structured school setting.

Under the direction of the MSA Coordinator, the coach will ensure adherence to GMCC, MHSAA, and MPS policies, and uphold high personal standards and the program mission.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Minimum of two years of experience as an assistant coach.
• Knowledge of effective coaching practices/techniques for the identified sport.

Responsibilities

• Supervises student athletes to promote effective student learning through participation in athletic activities.
• Plans, develops, and implements an effective program for the identified sport to prepare athletes physically and mentally.
• Prepares and conducts practice sessions that are stimulating and instructive, teaching basic sport skills and sportsmanship.
• Coordinates facility use in conjunction with MSA Coordinator.
• Communicates effectively with athletes, parents, officials and school administrators.
• Maintains equipment records and issuance dates.
• Makes written recommendations to the MSA Coordinator regarding program and facilities.
