Witmer Public Safety Group Inc. is seeking a Meter Service Technician to travel to customer locations across the northeast Pennsylvania counties, service meters and related equipment, and maintain accurate testing and inventory records.

Responsibilities include handling customer service requests, submitting daily billing paperwork, and building relationships with customers and vendors. Must have a valid driver’s license, be able to travel, and maintain certifications as required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 2–3 years of technician/repair experience.
• Valid driver’s license with clean record.
• Ability to travel daily and overtime.
• Ability to travel to multiple locations daily and work in varying environments.
• Excellent time management, organizational and planning skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.
• Must be willing to complete mandatory training and maintain required certifications.
• Must be at least 21 years of age (DOT requirement).

Position Summary

Meter Service Technicians are responsible for travelling to different locations to service meters and related equipment for our customers. Customer service requests involve, but are not limited to, addressing connections, disconnects, rereading meters, checking for leaks, etc.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Handles meter calibration and servicing of equipment for customers.
• Responsible for taking and recording meter testing results.
• Ensures proper inventory of meter-related equipment and parts; notifies parts of supplies needs as required.
• Maintains records of work performed and materials used by keeping up-to-date records on products, parts, serial numbers, ID numbers, etc.
• Submit paperwork for billing daily to Service Administrator and Service Manager.
• Works to solicit new customers.
• Maintain customer centric focus regarding quality and efficiency.
• Ensure vehicles are kept clean and maintained.
• Completes daily vehicle inspections and reports any vehicle issues to the Service Manager in a timely manner.
• Practice safe driving & defensive driving habits.
• Establish good working relationships with vendors, team members, and customers
• Ensures compliance with all federal, state, and local requirements.
• Complies with all Witmer Public Safety Group Policies and Procedures.
• Performs other duties or projects assigned by the management team.

Service Territory

This position will service specific northeast Pennsylvania counties from the border with New York down through Juniata, Snyder, Northumberland, Schuylkill, Berks counties. The west territory boarder is Tioga, Lycoming, Mifflin counties. The residence of the successful candidate is required to be located in this territory.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Must have 2-3 years of experience as a technician or repair technician.
• Valid driver’s license and clean record.
• Ability to travel daily and work overtime as needed.
• Must be able to travel to multiple locations daily and work in varying environments.
• Good communication, interpersonal and customer service skills.
• Excellent time management, organizational and planning skills.
• Must be able to work independently and manage one’s own workload.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Products (Word/Excel/Outlook).
• Maintain reasoning capabilities; to cope with tight deadlines; changing priorities; handle stress and maintain mature problem-solving demeanor.
• Must be willing to complete mandatory training and maintain required certifications.

Credentials and Experience

Two-to-Three-year experience in any technician/repair work.

Must be at least 21 years of age (required by the Department of Transportation)

Prior/current experience in the fire/police/safety industry (preferred).

However, on some instances this job may require work in areas where ear protection is necessary.
