The Opportunity

Witmer Public Safety Group is looking for an experienced, customer-focused sales professional to support and grow our uniform and apparel business serving fire, law enforcement, and corrections agencies.

Our Uniform Sales Manager serves as the company's primary resource for uniform and apparel sales, working closely with our Outside Sales Associates to develop opportunities and deliver solutions for our customers.

This position combines sales support, direct customer engagement, product expertise, and hands‑on management of uniform orders. In some cases, you'll support an Outside Sales Associate with a customer opportunity. In others, you'll take the lead, becoming the customer's primary point of contact and managing the project from initial consultation through final delivery and follow‑up.

The goal is straightforward: provide customers with the products and solutions they need, generate profitable business for WPSG, and deliver a customer experience that earns repeat business.

What You'll Do
Support Sales and Develop Business
  • Partner with our Outside Sales Associates to identify, develop, and close uniform and apparel opportunities.
  • Work directly with fire, law enforcement, and corrections agencies to understand their requirements and recommend appropriate products and solutions.
  • Take the lead on uniform sales opportunities when appropriate, serving as the customer's primary point of contact.
  • Develop new customer relationships and expand uniform sales within existing accounts.
  • Prepare and deliver product presentations, demonstrations, and proposals.
  • Work with vendors and internal teams to develop competitive pricing while maintaining appropriate profit margins.
Manage Uniform Orders from Start to Finish
  • Coordinate product selection, specifications, sizing, measuring, customization, and order entry.
  • Ensure orders are entered accurately and reflect the customer's requirements.
  • Work with Purchasing, Sales Support, and Operations to coordinate order processing and fulfillment.
  • Monitor vendor deliveries, anticipate potential delays, and take proactive steps to address problems.
  • Maintain regular communication with customers regarding order status, delivery expectations, and any issues that arise.
  • Follow through after delivery to confirm customer satisfaction and resolve outstanding concerns.
Serve as Our Uniform and Apparel Product Expert
  • Maintain a strong working knowledge of uniform and apparel products, specifications, and customization options.
  • Serve as a resource for our Outside Sales Associates and internal departments on uniform‑related questions and opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain effective sizing, measuring, and order management procedures.
  • Build productive relationships with existing suppliers and evaluate new products and vendors.
  • Stay current on industry trends, new products, and changing customer requirements.
  • Help our sales team better understand our uniform offerings and identify opportunities within their accounts.
Help Grow and Improve the Business
  • Identify new markets, customers, products, and programs that can expand uniform and apparel sales.
  • Collaborate with Marketing on promotional initiatives and sales programs.
  • Recommend improvements to sales processes, order accuracy, fulfillment, and customer service.
  • Monitor sales performance and identify opportunities to improve profitability.
  • Participate in sales meetings, vendor meetings, trade shows, and customer events as appropriate.
  • Help identify additional resources and support needed as the uniform business grows.
Requirements
What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who combines strong customer relationship skills with product knowledge, attention to detail, and a commitment to following through.

The ideal candidate will bring:

  • Experience in uniform and apparel sales, preferably serving fire, law enforcement, corrections, or related professional markets.
  • Knowledge of uniform products, specifications, sizing, customization, and order fulfillment.
  • Experience with Class A dress uniforms is a plus, but not required.
  • The ability to manage complex customer orders and multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and problem‑solving skills.
  • An understanding of pricing, margins, and the importance of profitable sales.
  • The ability to work collaboratively with outside sales representatives, vendors, and internal support teams.
  • A proactive approach to anticipating problems, resolving issues, and keeping customers informed.
  • The initiative to develop new business while maintaining strong relationships with existing customers.

Relevant industry experience, product knowledge, and a demonstrated record of success are more important to us than a particular degree or job title.

What Success Looks Like

Success in this position means becoming a trusted resource for our customers, our sales team, and our vendor partners.

It means helping our Outside Sales Associates win new business, delivering accurate orders at profitable margins, anticipating and resolving fulfillment challenges, and keeping customers informed throughout the process.

It also means building relationships that generate repeat business, identifying new opportunities for growth, and continually improving how we serve our customers.

We're looking for someone who takes ownership of the entire process, pays attention to the details, and follows through on commitments.

Additional Information

This position requires regular customer visits and travel throughout our sales territory. Occasional evening and weekend work may be necessary to accommodate customer schedules, departmental needs, and industry events.

The Uniform Sales Manager reports directly to the VP of Sales & Marketing and works collaboratively with Outside Sales, Purchasing, Sales Support, Operations, Marketing, and our vendor partners.
