Job summary

Sylvania is seeking a Muslim Student Association Affinity Group Co-Sponsor to provide support in a safe environment for students sharing similar experiences or backgrounds. This role helps build community, promotes diversity, and facilitates events.

The ideal candidate is a New Trier faculty member dedicated to creating a welcoming space and committed to the school’s mission and values. Responsibilities include weekly meetings with students, collaboration with co-sponsors, and effective communication with administration.

Qualifications

• New Trier faculty member.
• Preference will be given to applicants who identify the same as the students in the affinity group.
• Commitment to creating a brave, welcoming space and offering uplifting support.
• Demonstrates a commitment to New Trier’s mission and values.
• Willingness to participate in New Trier equity professional development.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with co-sponsor to plan and facilitate affinity group meetings.
• Promote a collaborative, inclusive environment for the student group.
• Facilitate sharing of lived experiences and support.
• Assist students in processing difficult topics and provide resources.
• Meet weekly with the student group; mandatory attendance at all meetings.
• Maintain communication with the Director of Curriculum and Instruction.
• Schedule meetings with campus administration and students.
• Work with other sponsors to plan and host events.
• Attend mandatory sponsor training.
