Job summary

Freire Charter Middle School in Center City Philadelphia seeks a Middle School Special Education Teacher to ensure high-quality instruction, services, and targeted interventions for students on your caseload. You will collaborate with general education teachers in a co-teaching model to foster critical thinking and achievement.

Ideal candidates have experience with IEPs and accommodations, and will create learning materials aligned to the curriculum while maintaining strong family communication

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Valid state teaching certification or commitment to obtain.
• Strong instructional skill and content knowledge.
• Experience supporting students through co-teaching, accommodations, and targeted interventions.

Responsibilities

• Co-teach (Math) and collaborate with general education teachers to create a classroom culture of critical thinking, learning, respect, and high achievement.
• Familiarize yourself with IEPs and specially designed instructional/behavioral accommodations.
• Leverage content specific curriculum and create learning materials to promote critical thinking and problem solving.
• Establish consistent communication rhythms with families regarding individual student progress and school information.
• Actively participate in professional development and collaboration with staff to support student needs.
