Position Overview:
We are seeking an innovative and dynamic educator to join our middle school team as a Math/Science teacher with an integrated focus on design thinking, computer science, and coding. The ideal candidate will inspire students to see connections between STEM disciplines and real-world challenges, fostering curiosity, resilience, and a growth mindset.
Key Responsibilities:
Teach core Math and Science curriculum for grades 6–8, aligned with [state standards/NGSS/Common Core]
Integrate design thinking methodologies into STEM instruction, guiding students through inquiry, prototyping, and iteration
Introduce and support foundational computer science concepts and coding skills (e.g., Scratch, Python, robotics, or other platforms) within the context of math/science projects
Facilitate hands-on, project-based learning experiences that encourage creative problem-solving
Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse academic and social-emotional needs of middle school students
Use a variety of formative and summative assessments to track progress and adjust instruction
Collaborate with colleagues across disciplines to create cross-curricular units and opportunities
Foster a positive, inclusive classroom culture that promotes student agency and collaboration
Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress and classroom activities
Engage in ongoing professional development and contribute to school-wide innovation initiatives
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Education, Math, Science, Engineering, or a related field (Master’s preferred)
Valid teaching credential or eligibility
Experience with project-based learning, design thinking, or makerspace education strongly preferred
Proficiency in or willingness to learn coding languages and computational thinking tools (e.g., Python, Scratch, Micro:bit, Arduino, etc.)
Understanding of middle school developmental needs and the ability to build meaningful relationships with students
Passion for interdisciplinary, future-ready education
Preferred Experience:
Background in teaching or integrating computer science at the middle school level
Experience managing classroom technologies and digital platforms (e.g., Google Workspace, learning management systems, virtual labs)
