To provide an approved middle school education program and establish a class environment thatfosters learning and personal growth;2. To maintain good relationships with parents and other staff members.QUALIFICATIONS:1. Valid New Jersey Instructional Certificate in accordance with the requirements of N.J.S.A. 18A:27.1et seq., and N.J.A.C. Title 6 Chapter 11 with appropriate subject area endorsement(s) for the positionheld or eligibility2. Demonstrated knowledge of effective teaching methods and developmentally appropriate classroomactivities3. Ability to maintain a positive learning environment4. Strong interpersonal and communication skills5. Required criminal history background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status6. Current residency in New Jersey, approved residency waiver or candidate agrees to obtain residencywithin one year of employmentEMPLOYMENT TERMS:1. Works to achieve state core curriculum content standards and district educational goals andobjectives by promoting active learning and skills development in the classroom. Teaches pupilsthrough an approved course of study using board-adopted curricula, textbooks and other appropriateteaching materials.2. Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and provides individualized and small groupinstruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil.3. Sets specific objectives wherever possible in lesson preparation and weekly lesson plans and carriesthrough presentation to effectively achieve these objectives.4. Plans class activities and lesson presentations that are age-appropriate for the class and meet theindividual needs, interests and ability levels of all pupils.5. Supervises pupils in out of classroom activities as assigned.6. Attempts to maximize student achievement using many resources that align with the core curriculumstandards.7. Demonstrates an awareness of the academic, social, and emotional needs of each student.8. Demonstrates a positive attitude toward each student.9. Develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure and maintains order in theclassroom in a fair and just manner.10. Identifies individual pupil needs and works cooperatively with other professional staff members inassessing and resolving learning issues.11. Plans and implements sequential learning experiences, based on the use of data, for students in thecontent area for which the teacher is certified, using a variety of instructional strategies that areconsistent with the district and school's philosophy, mission statement, instructional goals, schoollevel objectives, and the Core Curriculum Content Standards. The learning experiences shall followand use approved curricula and instructional materials.2. Plans and implements instruction to ensure that all students meet and exceed the five broad areas ofthe Cross-Content Workplace Readiness Standards: Develops career planning and workplacereadiness skills; Uses technology, information, and other tools; Uses critical thinking, decision-making, and problem solving skills; Demonstrates self-management skills; and Applies safetystandards.3. Engages the learners in highly effective, differentiated learning experiences for the range of skilllevels and developmental needs found in the classroom, managing, when appropriate, multipleinstructional activities simultaneously.4. Provides and effectively organizes a variety of materials, equipment, media, and communityresources to support the instructional program, using school approved procedures.5. Maintains a classroom environment that supports learning and encourages student growth.6. Organizes and supervises approved field trips to enhance classroom learning.7. Uses effective presentation skills when employing direct instruction, including appropriate vocabularyand examples, clear and legible visuals, and articulate and audible speech.8. Uses excellent written and oral English skills when communicating with students, parents, andcolleagues.9. Assists with the preparation, monitoring, and following of Individualized Education Plans for selectedstudents assigned to the class.10. Assists with extracurricular activities, supporting the total program of the school.11. Instructs, advices, coaches, and supervises extracurricular activities, including interscholastic andintramural sports, academic competition, and fine art programs, as defined by the collectivebargaining agreement.12. Maintains records of pupil's educational progress in class record books and/or board approved formsand summarizes these marks for reporting purposes.14. Identifies pupil needs and provides instruction appropriate to those needs.15. Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior needed to achieve a classroom climateconducive to learning.16. Budgets class time effectively.17. Devises written and oral assignments and tests that require analytical and critical thinking as well asthe reproduction of facts.18. Encourages the active involvement and engagement of students in the learning process.21.
