About the Role

Inland Lakes Schools is seeking a student-centered, collaborative, and highly motivated educator to join our secondary team as a Social Studies Teacher for the 2026‑2027 school year. The successful candidate will be committed to fostering student achievement, building positive relationships, and creating engaging learning experiences that prepare students for success both in and beyond the classroom.

Qualifications

• Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with a Social Studies (RX) endorsement; additional certification preferred.
• Meet all Michigan Department of Education Highly Qualified requirements.
• Demonstrated knowledge of Michigan Academic Standards and best instructional practices.
• Ability to differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners while maintaining high expectations for all students.
• Ability to integrate technology effectively into classroom instruction, assessment, communication, and collaboration.
• Ability to develop, implement, and assess curriculum aligned to district and state standards.
• Strong classroom management skills and the ability to create a positive, student‑centered learning environment.
• Ability to analyze student achievement data and use data to drive instructional decisions.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with students, staff, parents, and community members.
• Commitment to supporting district and building school improvement initiatives.
• Evidence of professional growth, leadership, collaboration, and continuous learning.
• Demonstrated professionalism, dependability, and ethical conduct consistent with the teaching profession.

Preferred Qualifications

• Additional teaching endorsements or highly qualified areas.
• Experience teaching middle school and/or high school students (grades 6‑12).
• Experience implementing project‑based learning, inquiry‑based instruction, and student‑centered instruction.
• Experience utilizing educational technology and digital learning tools.
• Experience serving in a teacher leadership role, curriculum committee, or school improvement team.
• Knowledge of MTSS, PBIS, and differentiated instructional practices.

• Maintain accurate student records and comply with district, state, and federal requirements.
• Serve as a positive representative of Inland Lakes Schools and contribute to a culture of professional collaboration and continuous improvement.
