Job summary

Weeks Middle in Des Moines, Iowa, seeks an MS Cheerleading Coach to lead and develop a high-quality cheer program, promoting school spirit and teamwork. The role supports each student in skill development, discipline and self-esteem through structured practice and competitions.

The position requires prior cheerleading experience, a high school diploma, and a valid driver's license with the ability to transport students to events. CPR/First Aid certification is preferred by the district.

Qualifications

• Required: Cheerleading experience as participant or coach.
• Required: High school diploma or equivalent.
• Required: Valid driver's license.
• Required: Ability to drive students to competition sites.

Responsibilities

• Coach and instruct cheerleaders, individually or in groups, on rules, equipment and techniques for events or competitions.
• Attend coaching/sponsor meetings as assigned by building or district administration.
• Submit annual activity plan to activities office by October 1st and have it approved before stipend payment.
• Develop regular practice schedule and organize practice time for individual and team development.
• Organize meetings for team prospects and hold tryouts to select squad members.
• Assess skills and assign team positions.
• Maintain standards of student behavior and supervise students at all times.
• Monitor academic performance to ensure eligibility requirements are met.
• Work with the Activity Director to develop award policies and report winners.
• Maintain eligibility forms, emergency data cards, equipment inventory, and related records.
• Conference with parents/guardians regarding student performance.
• Model sportsmanlike conduct toward cheerleaders, officials, and spectators.
• Submit reports and activity checklists to administration as requested."],
