Munich Re Specialty Global Markets North America (MRSGM N.A.) is seeking enthusiastic individuals to join our growing team. As part of Munich Re Group, we specialize in specialty and marine insurance lines, including surety risks and customs bonds, with in-house claims solutions.

We are looking for a Full-Time Associate Underwriter, Marine to join the Roanoke Insurance Group division as a hybrid role based in our Miami, FL or Schaumburg, IL office, reporting to the VP, Cargo & Liabilities Underwriting.

Job Responsibilities

1. Collaborate with the US underwriting team on renewal insurance business.
2. Manage and evaluate renewal accounts to ensure risk quality.
3. Assess risks using underwriting standards and guidelines across assigned lines.
4. Request peer reviews and refer out-of-authority business to maintain consistent risk selection.
5. Identify profit and loss trends with account Lead Underwriters and peers to support profitability.
6. Monitor market developments and economic changes to align with business growth strategies.
7. Manage renewal book by accepting or rejecting accounts based on sound judgment and communication.
8. Build relationships with agents, brokers, and insureds to foster business partnerships.
9. Contribute to the development of underwriting tools, platforms, and training materials.
10. Assist with survey assignments as needed.
11. Provide account servicing support.

Job Requirements

• Possession of a P&C Producer license in your domicile state within 60 days of employment.
• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.
• 1-3 years of relevant experience preferred.
• Experience with US Ocean and Inland Marine insurance; Marine experience is a plus.
• Bilingual in Spanish and English is advantageous.
• Proficiency in Ocean Marine underwriting and standards.
• Knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and industry practices.
• Experience with EPIC or similar insurance management platforms is a plus.
• Strong negotiation skills for internal and external outcomes.
• Ability to adapt within a dynamic organization.
• Willingness to travel occasionally within the US to maintain relationships.

The salary range for this position in Miami, FL, is $50,000 to $65,000, plus benefits including health insurance, 401k match, paid holidays, and more. Actual salary depends on skills, experience, and internal equity.
