American Electric Power in Three Rivers, MI is seeking a Meter Servicer to install, program, remove, and reconnect meters energized up to 260 volts under general supervision.

You will read meters for cycle billing, test meters for accuracy, handle service orders, maintain equipment and records, and uphold safety standards in daily operations. The role requires a high school diploma or GED, a valid state driver’s license, and completion of the company training & assessment.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Valid State Driver's License required.
  • Completion of HireVue Meter Servicer test is required.
  • Within 24 months, complete the company's training and qualification program including 560 hours on-the-job mentoring.

Responsibilities

  • Read meters as required for field orders and cycle billing.
  • Install, program, remove, change, disconnect, and reconnect meters.
  • Test meters for proper operation and accuracy.
  • Perform Credit and Collections orders including disconnect/reconnect for non-payment.
  • Investigate irregular usage and energy diversion.
  • Repair meters, meter sockets, and enclosures.
  • Order, receive, ship, and store meters and associated equipment.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, vehicles and work area clean and orderly.
  • Operate automotive equipment and radios.
  • Maintain records and submit reports as required.
  • Assist employees of equal or higher classification.
  • Perform similar or less skilled work.

What you'll do:

  • Perform similar or less skilled work.

  • Within 24 months of employment, successfully complete the Company's training and qualification program for this classification including: classroom instruction; written testing; 560 hours of on the job mentoring; and job performance demonstrations.
  • Work overtime as needed including extended daily shifts and weekends.
  • Work late shifts as needed.
  • Work in a safe, efficient, and productive manner.
  • Proficiently use computers and applications related to this classification.
  • Effectively communicate with other employees, customers, and the general public in a courteous and appropriate manner.
  • Promote a positive image of the Company to customers and the general public.

Compensation Range:

$21.35 - $28.66

The Physical Demand Level for this job is: M – Medium Work: Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
