Job summary

Linamar Corporation is seeking an MRO Buyer to source, purchase, and manage MRO materials and services essential to production, maintenance, and facility operations. The role emphasizes reliable supplier relationships, cost control, and timely availability of critical items across casting, machining, heat treatment, and tooling.

Qualifications

  • Build supplier relationships, monitor performance, support audits and NDAs.
  • Ensure purchasing aligns with policies; lead cost-reduction efforts and assist AP.
  • Collaborate with Waste Elimination to reduce high-spend items.
  • Work with Maintenance, Engineering, Production, Tool Room, and MP&L.
  • Assist Engineering with RFQs and supplier selection for capital projects.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Summary

The MRO Buyer is responsible for sourcing, purchasing, and managing all Maintenance, Repair, and Operations (MRO) materials, services, and supplies required to support production, maintenance, and facility operations. This role ensures uninterrupted plant performance by maintaining reliable supplier relationships, controlling costs, and ensuring timely availability of critical items used in casting, machining, heat treatment, melt, tooling, and facility maintenance.

Responsibility
  • Source, negotiate, and purchase MRO materials, consumables, maintenance parts, tooling components, PPE, and facility supplies.
  • Issue purchase orders accurately and on time while managing pricing, terms, contracts, and supplier onboarding.
  • Maintain inventory levels in the ERP system, manage min/max settings, reduce obsolete stock, and report trends, lead times, and cost‑saving results.
  • Monitor stock levels, accelerate shortages, and review aged inventory to adjust stocking practices.
  • Build and maintain strong supplier relationships, monitor performance, resolve issues, and support audits and NDAs.
  • Ensure purchasing compliance with company policies and regulations; lead cost‑reduction efforts and support AP with invoice/PO discrepancies.
  • Partner with Waste Elimination to reduce cost and usage of high‑spend items.
  • Work closely with Maintenance, Engineering, Production, Tool Room, and MP&L to support correct part usage and ensure timely sourcing for planned and unplanned maintenance.
  • Assist Engineering with RFQs, vendor selection, and sourcing for capital projects.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Academic/Educational Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Industrial Technology, or related field.
  • 3–5 years of purchasing/procurement or supply chain experience in manufacturing; foundry or heavy industrial preferred.
  • Experience supporting maintenance departments and sourcing mechanical/electrical/pneumatic/hydraulic components.
  • Hands‑on familiarity with aluminum foundry operations and related equipment.
  • Experience managing MRO storerooms and implementing effective min/max strategies.
  • Supply chain or procurement certification (CPSM, CPM, CPIM, etc.) a plus.
  • Experience negotiating technical/industrial supplier contracts and long‑term pricing.
  • Background with ERP/MRP systems (SAP, Oracle, Epicor, Plex, etc.).
  • Knowledge of lean tools (5S, root‑cause problem solving, waste reduction).
Required Skills/Experience
  • Strong knowledge of industrial MRO materials, including mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic components.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced production environment.
  • Skilled in negotiating pricing, lead times, and supplier agreements.
  • High attention to detail with accurate PO entry, inventory tracking, and documentation.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills with the ability to address supply issues quickly.
  • Effective communicator able to collaborate across Maintenance, MP&L, Engineering, Production, and Finance.
  • Proficient with ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Office (Excel/Outlook).

  • Willing to work on the plant floor to verify parts and support maintenance needs.
