Job summary

SIGMA Group, Evansville, IN, is seeking a warehouse/inventory specialist to manage day-to-day operations and ensure financial goals are met. You will sort and triage inbound MRO inventory, perform inspections, and disassemble as needed to evaluate parts for repair or resale.

You will also help with packing, shipping, cataloging ecommerce listings, and idle assets for auctions, all while maintaining safety and accuracy in a team environment.

Qualifications

  • Must read and interpret safety rules and operating manuals.
  • Able to operate forklift, pallet jack and other warehouse equipment.
  • Able to use hand and power tools and general measuring/diagnostic equipment.
  • Must be proficient with cameras/tablets for editing photographs and data.
  • Demonstrated strong work ethic, detail orientation, and teamwork.

Responsibilities

  • Sort, triage, and organize inbound MRO inventory to remove non-value items and scrap.
  • Perform initial visual and technical inspections on incoming parts.
  • Disassemble complex assemblies safely when needed.
  • Evaluate parts for repair, harvest for parts, or scrap waste.
  • Ensure good inventory moves to the correct downstream channel and is cataloged.
  • Oversee recycling and disposal for Surplus group.
  • Assist with picking, packing, shipping outbound orders as needed.
  • Assist with cataloging ecommerce listings and idle assets for auctions.

Job description

Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Managing day-to-day work requirements of the assigned team to ensure financial goals are obtained.
  • Sort, organize, and triage inbound MRO inventory to remove packing materials, scrap metal, waste, and items deemed of no resale value.
    • Initial Triage: Perform visual and preliminary technical inspections on all incoming industrial automation and MRO parts.
    • Equipment Breakdown: Safely disassemble complex electronic and mechanical assemblies using appropriate tools.
    • Component Evaluation: Identify part numbers, revisions, and physical damage to determine if items are in need of repair, can be harvested for parts, or scrapped.
  • Work to ensure good inventory is fed into the proper down-stream processing channel.
  • Manage all recycling and disposal efforts within the Surplus group for streamlined operations.
  • Prioritize both inbound and warehouse space consolidation efforts to ensure material flow both into and from the proper channels, tagged and cataloged accordingly.
  • Assist with picking, packing and shipping outbound orders when necessary.
  • Assist with cataloging and creating ecommerce listings when necessary.
  • Assist with cataloging idle assets for MRO and equipment auctions.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to operate a fork truck, pallet jack, and other warehouse oriented equipment.
  • Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, and general measuring/diagnostic equipment.
  • Computer proficiency and an ability to use cameras and tablets for editing photographs.
  • Demonstrated strong work ethic, attention to detail and working in a team environment
Education and Experience:
  • A high school diploma is required; some college preferred.
  • Hands-on technical experience required; mechanical, electrical experience preferred.
Physical/Travel Requirements:
  • Must be comfortable operating a forklift and working at heights (up to 25’)
  • Must be able to safely lift up to 50lbs
  • Must have a valid Driver’s license
  • Required to use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to sit and climb or balance.
