Job summary

OSI Group Batavia, IL is seeking a Purchasing/Procurement professional responsible for acquiring tools and parts, issuing items to maintenance mechanics, and maintaining inventory accuracy. This role emphasizes vendor relations, price negotiation, and timely order fulfillment within a manufacturing setting.

Responsibilities include placing maintenance part orders, reviewing invoices, establishing inventory levels, and coordinating with Maintenance, Engineering, and Production to meet production

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of experience in purchasing or related field preferred.
  • Proficient with a PC and entering data into spreadsheets or software.
  • Basic knowledge of purchasing and inventory control procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain relationships with vendors; resolve delivery, quantity, and quality issues; identify alternate sources and negotiate price.
  • Place orders for maintenance parts and supplies; obtain prices and schedule deliveries.
  • Review invoices for price/quantity accuracy and file for payment within timelines.
  • Establish inventory levels with Maintenance/Engineering/Production data; conduct periodic reviews to ensure accuracy and adequate supply.
  • Support preventive maintenance schedules and activities; follow safety and GMP policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Description

Position Summary:

Under direct supervision, this role is responsible for purchasing tools and parts following established procedures, issuing tools and parts to maintenance mechanics, and maintaining accurate inventory through effective record-keeping practices.

  • Job is an individual contributor.
  • Job is an individual contributor and has no direct reports.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with existing and potential vendors; resolve issues involving delivery timeliness, quantity and quality, identify alternate supply sources, negotiate best price, and other interactions as necessary to obtain supplies.Bid large orders from multiple vendors, make recommendations to management on vendor selection and implements as approved and directed.
  • Place orders for maintenance parts, supplies and contract work; includes obtaining prices, scheduling deliveries and writing purchase orders.Follow up with vendors as necessary to ensure that parts are available to meet production needs.
  • Review invoices for accuracy of price and quantity as compared to purchase orders and route for approval and payment within payment timelines.Retain documents in compliance with organization's record retention policy.
  • Working with information from Maintenance, Engineering and Production, identify and establish appropriate parts inventory levels.Enter parts and supply inventory requirements, purchases, and usage into established recordkeeping tools; conduct periodic reviews of inventory levels to ensure recordkeeping accuracy and sufficient supply levels as required.
  • Preventive maintenance schedules & activities.
  • Comply with established employment, safety, good manufacturing practices, quality, and other facility workplace policies and procedures
  • This role has the responsibility to understand and places in practice appropriate safety procedures.This responsibility is achieved through education, training, use of protective equipment (as applicable) and by following safety policies, regulations, standards, and laws.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Experience & Skills:

  • 3-5 years of experience in related field is preferred.
  • Ability to work with a personal computer and accurately enter data into spreadsheets or functional specific software.
  • Basic knowledge of purchasing and inventory control procedures.

Preferred Education

  • Associates degree or equivalent is preferred
  • Work can be performed within a manufacturing plant enviornment with noise, extreme temperatures, and significant movement of powered equipment, people and conveyor (may depend on the role).
  • Work conditions are typical of a food manufacturing facility.
  • This role does not require any domestic travel
  • Position requires the physical agility to perform continuous lifting up to50 pounds, bending, squatting, pushing, pulling, stretching/reaching, use hands or fingers, talk, hear, feel objects, tools, controls and standing/walking on concrete flooring.
  • Position requires the physical ability to stand/walk for the duration of work hours.

Compensation/Benefits

We are committed to fair and transparent pay practices. The hourly pay range for this position is $28.1 5 to $42.25 per hour. The final hourly rate offered will be based on factors such as relevant experience, skills, education, internal equity, and market considerations.

Additional Compensation:

This position may also be eligible for overtime pay, shift differentials, and/or bonus opportunities, as applicable.
