Position Summary
Inspects and determines the airworthiness of aircraft, aircraft systems, equipment, and parts in compliance with specifications and applicable government regulations. Performs preflight and postflight inspections, ensuring all inspection forms are accurately completed. Works from approved drawings, FAA regulations, or other specifications.
Requirements
- A&P License required
- Flexibility to work any shift - Sunday-Wednesday or Wednesday-Saturday. 1st shift: 6am-4:30pm; 2nd shift: 4:00pm-2:30am
Job Responsibilities
- Carries out aircraft inspections, verifying and controlling specific documentation according to the inspection process.
- Prepares reports on maintenance services and spare parts supplier performance, including rejected/non-compliance parts, quantities, discrepancies, and technical assessments.
- Performs stock re-inspections and shipping inspections.
- Monitors and verifies quality in accordance with control processes.
- Ensures all inspections are properly performed and documented per internal procedures and FAA requirements.
- Files work orders and inspection forms systematically for easy retrieval.
- Conducts preliminary, hidden damage, and final inspections on repaired items.
- Performs review inspections to monitor work quality and standards.
- Performs audits to ensure documentation compliance with Federal Aviation Regulations.
- Performs self-audits and assists in analyzing quality data to improve QA functions.
- Performs special assignments and projects as directed by the Chief Inspector.
Education and Experience
- High School diploma or GED required; A.S. degree in Aviation preferred.
- Minimum 5-7 years of experience as an aircraft A&P Mechanic.
- Prior inspector experience with aerospace quality systems meeting FAA standards.
- Experience interpreting precision measurement instruments.
