Job Summary

The MRI Technologist I performs procedures following departmental protocols, operating MRI scanners and related equipment proficiently, including post-processing stations, IV contrast injectors, patient monitoring, and transport equipment.

Essential Functions

• Verify patient requests and orders, consult with Radiologists regarding discrepancies.
• Identify patients using two identifiers, explain procedures, and prepare patients accordingly.
• Obtain and review medical histories, record clinical data, and correlate test results.
• Manage exams from start to finish, evaluate image quality, and consult with Radiologists as needed.
• Administer IV contrast per protocols, record details, and ensure patient safety.
• Recognize abnormal anatomy, process additional images, and assist during invasive procedures.
• Follow safety protocols for radiation and bloodborne pathogens, maintain equipment, and ensure a clean work environment.
• Operate radiology computer systems, document contrast administration, and assist other medical personnel as needed.
• Maintain knowledge of MRI safety standards and participate in safety training.

Physical Requirements

Moderate to heavy lifting, standing, walking, bending, and exposure to physical conditions such as stairs and moving equipment. Follow radiation safety guidelines to prevent exposure.

Education, Experience, and Certifications

Graduate of an accredited Radiologic or Nuclear Medicine Technology program or active enrollment in ARMRIT or ARRT registry-eligible program. ARRT certification required within one year of hire. CPR certification required.
