Job Summary

The MRI Technologist performs all MRI procedures according to established policies and procedures to ensure high-quality patient care. Participates in on-call rotation.

Key Responsibilities

1. Performs MRI procedures following department protocols.
2. Ensures correct patient info and technical settings are entered prior to procedures.
3. Prepares and administers intravenous contrast media as per protocols.
4. Performs venipuncture using sterile technique.
5. Demonstrates knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy.
6. Processes, records, and archives images for evaluation.
7. Completes imaging timely as per radiologist’s requirements.
8. Sends image data to PACS.
9. Handles all tasks related to MRI examinations following policies.
10. Accepts assignments positively and performs duties beyond routine as needed.
11. Restocks and maintains work area/equipment.
12. Assists in patient movement and participates in on-call coverage.
13. Performs RIS transactions for accurate patient and procedure records.
14. Reviews charges and corrects as necessary.
15. Performs equipment maintenance and quality assurance checks.
16. Communicates with hospital staff and physicians regarding MRI procedures.
17. Assists in scheduling and handles calls courteously.
18. Ensures patient safety and comfort, respecting privacy and confidentiality.
19. Evaluates patient history for MRI suitability and provides education.
20. Completes documentation and incident reports timely.
21. Contributes to a positive team environment and demonstrates professionalism.

Qualifications

• Licensure by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or equivalent.
• Relevant work experience (minimum 1 year).
• Graduate of an approved discipline-specific program.
