Job summary

Mercyhealth is seeking an MRI Technologist to perform advanced MRI examinations and produce high-quality diagnostic images. You will work with patients, radiologists, and radiology staff in a safe, compassionate environment, following MRI safety practices and clinical protocols.

Responsibilities include preparing patients, operating the MRI system, administering contrast when needed, documenting in the EMR, and supporting interventional procedures.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited radiography program or accredited MRI training program.
  • 1–3 years imaging experience preferred; new graduates considered.
  • ARRT (MR) or ARRT with MR pathway within 2 years of hire; CPR/BLS required.

Responsibilities

  • Performs MRI procedures under licensed practitioner orders.
  • Prepares patients, positions equipment, and minimizes anxiety.
  • Follows MRI safety practices and zones protocols at all times.
  • Assists with contrast administration and interventional procedures.
  • Documents procedures in EMR and reviews clinical history with radiologists.

Job description

OVERVIEWJoin our imaging team as an MRI Technologist, providing safe, compassionate care while performing advanced MRI examinations and producing high-quality diagnostic images. You’ll work closely with patients, providers, and radiology professionals while supporting a safe, collaborative environment and utilizing advanced MRI technology.SCHEDULE: PRN, 10-hour shiftsSHIFT: DaysESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESPerforms procedures or examinations under the order of a licensed medical practitioner for diagnostic interpretation.Prepares patient for proceduresMaintains knowledge of current MRI safety practices and utilizes such as part of daily practice. Assumes responsibility for persons entering Zones I-IV.Provides patient instruction to obtain desired results, gain cooperation, and minimize anxiety.Applies principles and policies of magnetic resonance safety to minimize risk to patient, self and others.Reviews patients’ clinical history ensuring that appropriate scan is ordered and labs are within range- reviewing with radiologist and/or provider as necessary.Selects and operates the magnetic resonance system, surface coils, physiologic gating devices, and associated equipment to achieve desired results.Reports and documents MRI safety incidents/ adverse events per protocol.Positions the patient and equipment to best demonstrate the anatomic area of interest, respecting patient ability, safety and comfort.Immobilizes patients as required for appropriate examination.Selects appropriate pulse sequences with consideration given to established protocols and other factors influencing data acquisition parameters.Starts and maintains intravenous access, to include power injectable implanted ports/specialized linesAssist with medical record/image sharing as necessary.Operates MRI scanner, associated equipment, and power injector to produce cross section images of patient anatomy for diagnostic purposesDocuments all information pertinent to MRI procedure in electronic medical record to include medication reconciliation.Verifies consent/screening form for all entering Zone IV. Prepares and administers contrast media orally and intravenous maintaining aseptic techniqueAssists the physician with interventional procedures.Provides practical instruction to students and partners.Evaluates images and data for technical quality.Manipulates and reconstructs digital data for display, ensuring proper identification is evident.Ability to perform independent high-level MRI studies such as but not limited to; all cardiac studies, run offs, conditional device protocols, and MRI procedural studiesAssumes responsibility for provision of physical and psychological needs of patients during procedures.Uses radiology information systems (including PACS), completes all required records and reports, archives and submits images for physician review and interpretation.Initiates basic life support action when necessary.EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCEGraduate of an accredited radiography program or accredited MRI training programMinimum One (1) to Three (3) years experience preferred.Will consider new graduatesCERTIFICATION/LICENSUREARRT (MR) if completed the MRI Primary pathway required upon hire ORARRT, (R) with requirement to obtain the MR Credential within 2 years of hireARMRIT Credential required upon hire only if they do not hold ARRTApproved CPR or BLS certification required within 90 days.OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIESProblem Solving - Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; gathers and analyzes information skillfully; develops alternative solutions; works well in group problem solving situations; uses reason, even when dealing with emotional topics.Interpersonal Skills- Focuses on solving conflict, not blaming; maintains confidentiality; listens to others without interrupting; keeps emotions under control; remains open to others’ ideas and tries new things.Oral Communication- Speaks clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations; listens and gets clarification; responds well to questions; participates in meetings.Written Communication- Writes clearly and informatively; edits work for spelling and grammar; able to read and interpret written information.Professionalism- Approaches other in a tactful manner; reacts well under pressure; treats others with respect and consideration regardless of their status or position; accepts responsibility for own actions; follows through on commitments.Adaptability- Adapts to changes in the work environment; manages competing demands; changes approach or method to best fit the situation; able to deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events.LEVEL OF SUPERVISIONWorks independently with limited direct supervision.SUPERVISESProvides clinical supervision of allied health students and radiology aides.PAY RANGE:$34.45 - $51.68Mercyhealth is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
