Responsibilities

  • Maintains ARRT/ARRT or modality competency in MRI clinical and technical tasks.
  • Prepares patients, verifies identity and orders, and ensures exam readiness.
  • Reviews images for quality, clarity, and accuracy per protocol.
  • Follows MRI safety guidelines and maintains a safe work environment.
  • Completes studies within acceptable time frames without compromising care.
  • Instructs students and other MRI staff in exam protocols and equipment.
  • Provides patient education, ensures comfort, and addresses concerns.
  • Maintains infection control and sterile techniques.
  • Operates equipment and information systems to ensure quality images.
  • Keeps accurate records of patient procedures and reactions.
  • Follows protocols for medical necessity, coding, charging, consents, QC, and reporting failures.

Job description

As an MRI Technologist, you will be responsible for performing diagnostic MRI exams on patients using specialized equipment. You will work closely with radiologists, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to ensure accurate and high-quality imaging results. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of imaging techniques, excellent patient care skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Become part of a dynamic MRI team supporting patients across Utah Valley Hospital and Utah Valley Outpatient Center. This position is ideal for an MRI technologist who enjoys a fast-paced environment, values schedule flexibility, and is comfortable working independently when needed. You'll have the opportunity to perform a variety of MRI exams across both locations while helping deliver exceptional patient care in a collaborative and patient-focused setting.

Job Details
  • Shift Details/Times: PRN - as needed shift coverage; (Mon - Sat, shifts are primarily 10 hours and start at 06:00, 07:00, and 08:00; swing shifts from 09:00-21:30 and/or 11:00-21:30. Sundays are 12 hour shifts from 08:00-20:30.
  • Unit / Location: Utah Valley Hospital and Utah Valley Outpatient Center - MRI
  • Additional Details: Call on Holidays (24 hrs) - PRN caregivers are part of the rotation, expected 1 holiday per year.

  • Scheduled Weekly Hours: 0 The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.
  • Hourly Rate: $39.16 - $60.42
Essential Functions
  • Maintains American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or modality-specific competency in all clinical and technical functions.
  • Ensures proper patient identification, order verification, and prepares the patient for the exam.
  • Performs exams per department protocol and reviews images for quality, clarity, and accuracy.
  • Adheres to MRI safety guidelines and maintains a safe working environment.
  • Completes studies within acceptable time limits without compromising patient care or quality.
  • Assists and instructs students and other MRI Techs in exam protocols, procedures, positioning, and equipment.
  • Provides appropriate patient education, ensures patient comfort, and addresses concerns.
  • Practices appropriate infection control and sterile techniques.
  • Understands and operates equipment and related information systems to ensure quality images.
  • Keeps accurate records of patient information, procedures performed, and any adverse reactions.
  • Follows protocols for medical necessity, coding, charging, consents, QC programs, and reporting equipment failures.

Minimum Qualifications
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)(MR) or American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT) or American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)(R) cross-trained in MRI Basic Life Support certification (BLS) for healthcare providers IV Competency within 30 days of hire
Preferred Qualifications
  • 1-2 years of MRI technologist experience Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
Physical Requirements

Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc. Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items. Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items. Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc.) May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time.
