Job summary

Brown University Health Morton Hospital Taunton is seeking a qualified MRI technologist to perform diagnostic procedures as prescribed by physicians, operate MRI equipment, and prepare the room and supplies for exams.

You will ensure patient comfort, explain procedures, monitor for adverse reactions, and collaborate with radiology and nursing staff to deliver high-quality imaging services while upholding the organization’s values of compassion and excellence.

Qualifications

• Current BLS certification.
• ARRT registered MRI with RT(MR) designation.
• Documented MRI training and experience preferred.
• ARRT Radiography RT(R) designation preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collect information by interview from the patient, family and providers.
• Review patient records and labs to assess the case.
• Document assessments in a legible, policy-compliant manner.
• Evaluate patient needs to prevent complications.
• Coordinate care with the health care team.
• Explain procedures and answer patient questions.
• Establish effective patient communication during procedures.
• Be available and accessible to the patient.
• Inject patients using aseptic technique; seek help in difficult situations.
• Monitor for adverse reactions and respond appropriately.
• Keep patient/family informed of progress or delays.
• Complete job competencies annually.
• Operate MRI equipment to obtain quality images per protocols.
• Prepare the room and ensure equipment is ready for exams.
• Clean and organize the room after procedures.
• Assist in clinical training of radiology and nursing students.
• Notify supervisor of shortages or malfunctions.
• Assume responsibility in supervisor's absence when required.
• Contribute to team approach to provide quality care.
• Use MRI safety techniques to minimize risk.
• Maintain IV competency.
• Complete PACS processes to review images and assign cases; correct QA and charging issues.
