Job summary

The MRI Technologist will join a collaborative team supporting ColumbiaDoctors, performing MRIs, archiving images, and ensuring patient comfort in the MRI suite. You will review requests, position patients per protocols, administer contrast as directed, and maintain equipment logs across multiple sites.

Ideal candidates hold NYS licensure, ARRT certification, and MRI Registry eligibility, with strong communication and de-escalation skills.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 2 years relevant radiology experience.
• NYS license and ARRT certification required.
• MRI Registry eligible; NYS BLS certified.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills; able to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and staff and provide patient-centered care.
• Perform MRIs and general radiologic procedures.
• Review imaging requests for appropriateness with clinical info.
• Coordinate with radiologist and referring physicians as needed.
• Position patients and select imaging options per protocols.
• Observe patient status and respond to changes; escalate as required.
• Assess image quality before submission for interpretation.
• Explain procedures to patients and answer questions.
• Administer contrast media via IV access as directed.
• Operate and maintain MRI equipment; log performance data and schedule PM.
• Handle clerical tasks for image acquisition, processing, and archiving.

Job Summary

The MRI Technologist will work in a collaborative environment to provide superior patient care. The incumbent will perform all duties associated with acquisition, processing, submission for interpretation and archiving of MRI images and will be responsible for the care of the patient while in the MRI area.

Job Responsibilities

• Greet and interact with patients, visitors, vendors and all faculty and staff
• Perform MRIs and general radiological procedures
• Review imaging requests for appropriateness based on clinical information provided
• Review all questionable orders with the radiologist and at the radiologist’s discretion the referring physician
• Position patient and select appropriate options to ensure best case imaging based on accepted MRI standard of practice and institutional imaging protocols
• Observe patient while in the MRI area for change in status and make appropriate intervention or contact primary care givers for instruction
• Judge diagnostic quality of finished medical images prior to submission to radiologist for interpretation
• Offer detailed explanation of diagnostic procedures to patients and answer questions as appropriate
• Administer contrast media via appropriate peripheral IV access as directed
• Operate and maintain equipment on a daily basis maintaining logbooks with equipment performance data schedule PM perform QA maintain records required for and participate in inspections
• Perform clerical responsibilities associated with acquisition processing and archiving of patient records
• Other duties as assigned

Job Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalency
• A minimum of 2 years relevant experience
• NYS License
• ARRT certified
• MRI Registry eligible
• New York BLS certified
• Must have excellent communication skills interpersonal skills and a strong ability to deescalate stressful situations
• Candidate must demonstrate strong aptitude for detail flexibility adaption to change and ability to work independently
• Must demonstrate strong organizational and problem solving skills
• Must be able to make sound judgments and execute the appropriate actions based on the needs of patients and knowledge of facility policies and procedures
• Basic proficiency in computer skills including but not limited to Electronic Health Systems Microsoft Excel Microsoft Word email systems etc
• Will provide coverage as requested throughout practices as needed multiple sites and flexible schedule including weekends
• State license to inject contrast preferred

Hourly Rate Ranges 5956 7898

Note Our salary offers will fall within these ranges based on a variety of factors including but not limited to experience skill set training and education
