Job description

This position schedule is Saturday-Sun, 10 hour shifts

Scope of Position

The Center for Neurolmaging, NeuroPhenotyping, NeuroComputation, and Neuromodulation (C4N) within the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health encompasses MR equipment located at 1960 Kenny Rd, Columbus, Ohio 43201. C4N offers MR imaging services to adult and pediatric populations involved in clinical research protocols.

Position Summary

The MRI Technologist performs magnetic resonance imaging exams per IRB-approved clinical research protocols. Additionally, the position provides participant education and performs quality assessment activities for C4N, under the direction of the C4N Associate Director.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Current Radiography license, ARRT (R) required.
  • Current Radiography ODH license required.
  • 1 year of relevant experience.
  • Previous MRI Technologist experience within a clinical research setting is preferred.
  • Advanced registry in MRI preferred.
  • Ongoing: Maintains registry & licensing status; meets mandatory education and health surveillance requirements.
  • Demonstrates competence in technical, interpersonal, and cognitive skills required to meet essential job functions.
Essential Duties
Imaging Technologist Duties (80% of the time)
  • Produces high-quality MRI exams utilizing imaging skills for assigned modalities.
  • Performs Imaging Time Out to ensure correct patient, exam, protocol, and laterality.
  • Selects proper imaging parameters on an individual patient basis, safely operates equipment according to guidelines.
  • Starts IV and/or maintains existing access lines and ports; administers contrast medication following hospital standards.
  • Provides general care to patients, reacts in emergencies, participates in call rotations for emergency coverage.
  • Assesses and screens patients for safety, provides information regarding procedures.
  • Completes comprehensive MRI Safety screening of all involved parties.
  • Accepts verbal orders from Licensed Practitioners for imaging procedures as per hospital policy.
  • Completes documentation, maintains patient confidentiality, and performs clerical functions.
  • Demonstrates infection control practices, maintains inventory, and performs other assigned functions.
Quality Assurance Responsibilities (20% of time)
  • Maintains current QA/QC data, critiques images for quality, reports equipment issues, and participates in departmental meetings.
  • Completes mandatory competencies and maintains current standards as defined by the Medical Center.
Organizational Expectations

Ensures department operates within practice standards, adheres to policies, and meets standards of regulatory agencies such as ASRT, ARRT, ODH, ARDMS, NMTCB, ACR, JC, etc. Practices within the Medical Center's policies, demonstrating positive patient/guest relations and effective staff interactions.
